You may or may not be aware that hordes of gankers who always hated PG/solo game style that offers a refuge from them to a players who do not wish to be their game stepped up in their attempts to take it from them at least to an extent.

This time, they are intending to systematically prevent the new players who are expected to come in greater numbers in following weeks due to the recent PS4 version of the game launch from enjoying the game and ruin the experience for them as much as possible.

In this case they claim that their spoilsport activities are actually having a goal - to blackmail the devs to something which was stressed several times over that is not going to happen - to make open and PG/solo players unequal.

They know that it is unlikely they will meet their goal, yet they proceed because at least they have an excuse to attempt to make people miserable again.

If the trolls succeed in making the game less enjoyable it will not only have impact on the community, it may result in sales decrease and possibly in something none of us want - delaying of the development plan.

FD reacted with the counter-initiative, bounty hunting CG's in the starter systems. Now it's up to us, the heart of the community to show the new coming commanders that not all of us are the deprived beings that thrive from making others unhappy and that there are many who are ready to offer helping hand.

Bounty hunting in the starter systems is very important - it prevents and ends lockdown that is key part of wannabe blackmailers strategy. Trading in the systems will put the station owners in boom which will also help the new players with their own trading activities. And of course PvP skilled players providing escorts and/or engaging gankers are also welcome, if those come to open at all that is - yes these characters often use PG/solo play despite their claims.

If you are realy that concerned with the issue, buy yourself a PS4 the game and then set a defense force.
BTW the gankers invade mobius because it causes such an outrage which just fuels them even more.

Ohhhh, Jesus! Man, I'm not as smart as I think I am.

I was looking at the starter systems CGs thinking "What possible new effect is this going to have on the systems? Is there some new state or security level or something?"

Didn't even consider that they coincided with the PS4 realease... which, if you think about it, aside from what OP said REALLY gives those PS4 players a nice jumpstart in credits acquisition.

Well for one thing you should also point the finger at Salome, who basically put a massive lore sponsored hit on anyone doing any legal action. Bounty hunting, CZ, exploring, trading, all were highlighted as being part of a 'conspiracy' by Salome and were marked for blockade action.

So now you have a lore justification for ganking, leading to an ever increasing population out for blood, only this time it has a story purpose.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Can you provide some proof? A video, screens or something?

Maybe then, instead of acting like everything's great, FD should acknowledge the poor state of the game? The game isn't failing to hold new players just because of gankers (there aren't nearly enough gankers for it to be the sole reason). In fact, if you look at Steam's player stats, you can see a clear pattern showing an increase in active players for at most a month before an update/story activity, followed by an immediate and large drop the very next month. This implies that the game content is failing to retain players rather than just gankers.

Also, consider the events currently unfolding regarding the Thargoids, while yes, it builds hype, thus attracting players, but it then subsequently also pushes said players away because well, if you want to participate, you need to spend a lot of time grinding, which means you as a brand new PS4 player just get to observe via YouTube. Do you think many of these players will form a favorable opinion about this situation? Not to mention that having to record and run a sound through a spectrogram is outright making the players switch devices, even on PC it's a problem because it makes you not actually be playing the game, but on consoles it's worse, you aren't just shifting a player away from the game, but from the device the game is being played on.

Meh , whatever spin/buzz word you care to call them they are simply players, playing the game their way. Their choice of playstyle is no less valid than anyone elses in ED. Do i agree with their choices? No i think its cowardly but it does not change the fact that they are simply playing the game.

Even when my explorer ASP (with no weapons) was brutally attacked by 3 players in vettes while i watched from an srv was nothing but some players playing the game. Even if i see it as cowardly, their playstyle is still a valid choice.
