Illicit cargo warning lit, but ship is empty

Hi

I am very new to ED and only have a few hours progress outside of the training missions so far, but settling in and starting to get a feel for what's what.

I am seeing an 'Illicit Cargo' warning on the right hand side of my HUD, constantly; all I've done is a few 'data delivery' type missions for a few credits here and there, and a mission that required delivery of two water or something similar. I now have no active missions, and nothing in my inventory/cargo hold and yet the warning is still illuminated...

Anything I've done, or need to do to fix it? Or is it only me?! FYI, am playing solo, not open play at the moment.

Hmmm, illicit usually means you have cargo that is illegal in the system. If your hold is empty it may be a bug - try exit & re-enter game? Are you sure you have nothing in the 'Ship Cargo' subtab?

Edit (Materials & Data cannot be illegal. )

Had simular problem once in so much as I couldn't accept a 5 ton load in my 6 ton sidney. I got to checking around and found there were some items in my cargo hold I wasn't aware of. No way I knew of to sell them so I deleted them, and boom load accepted. On your right menu screen you have access to cargo, look in there, though there may be away of dealing with them outer than deletion. Your illegal cargo may be in there.

Sometimes you get an additional material reward for doing a mission.
Perhaps this reward is illegal in some systems?

As others have said: Go to your right hand HUD, select cargo at the top and have a look.
If there is nothing there then this might be a bug. Please report it in that case.

If there is cargo you could sell the stuff in a system where it is legal, or you might sell it at a black market.
Watch out for cops who want to scan your hold though. You will get a fine if they finish the scan.

So you might want to check that. If you manage to get onto a station (avoid scans when carrying illicit cargo) then the commodities page will tell you how many tons are already used. If that number is zero you have a bug.

Also don't forget that there are filters one or more may be set. And at the bottom of the page you will see your capacity: 0/8 etc.

Thank you chaps, now I know where to look...you were right. Had two stolen fruit and veg, presumably residue from a cancelled mission I didn't complete and got fined for &#55357;&#56832;&#55357;&#56832;&#55357;&#56397;&#55356;&#57339;&#55357;&#56397;&#55356;&#57339;

Doesn't look like I can sell 'em either lol.

You need to find a station with a black market to sell stolen and or illegal goods.
Accessed through contacts
