Attempt to sabotage our game

Afaik some planned on getting stations into lockdown- which means no shipyard, which means sidey stays on that measly what, 5,6 ly-jumprange, which means only 1,2 systems to jump to who easily could get lockdowned too.
So to avoid this lockdown of the starter locations AP and ER they put a few bounty-hunting CGS in bc bounty hunting stops lockdowns or even avoids them If I got that correctly.

Not sure what to laugh hardest at, the way over the top drama off the OP, or the subject matter.

When I read reports about this sort of thing I exit stage left to where the sun is shining.

I mean really, if this was true then those who are the "hordes" described in the OP must be some very sad and lonely individuals who are wasting the earth's oxygen and just taking up space on the planet.

(People playing the BGS, fine have fun trying to outwit each other but those who are intent on fudging the game for new players, get out of your step mom's basements)

More MMO gameplay wouldn't really make open a more friendly place, it is one already. Those of us that play there are happy with the risk that we may be facing a rebuy and sometimes actively go looking for trouble. Player generated escort wing missions would be a nice thing though

I quite enjoy Open - you do actually have to go looking for trouble in my experience.

On the fence whether more support for player groups would in itself make Open more friendly or not, It tends to be player groups that shoot at me! I suppose it depends on the player group.
I think more ways of interacting would help a lot though, both players working together and against each other. In many ways taking all the "but other MMOs do this" out of the equation, that is the basis of group play. I'd like to see support for adhoc groups to complete a share dobjective, rather than feeding this through monolithic player groups.

Good to see we're you're all getting your daily dose of vitriole thrown at people who like to pvp in early.

I'd hate for you all to be venting spleen at this hour, makes things most messy.

I see the time of day suits you just fine for Spleen Venting.

A PvP'er playing the victim here, or in the game, is laughable.
Trying to recall the last thread from a Soloist demanding people in Open come to Solo...or complaining that people in Open were ruining "their" experience by not being a target for them.
Wait...I...nope. Don't recall one.

That's nonsense. Hardline Soloists advocate for the abolition of multiplayer modes all the time.

I've never heard of "venting spleen" before. Is that like a "tea and medals" thing? :)

Hardline Soloists? How many are they?
i recall one, one, and his complaint was the time wasted on other projects that could better be spent fleshing out the universe. Not the removal of other play modes.
Cmdr Hardline Soloist if I am misquoting you please correct me.
And certainly outnumbered by the Open crowd hollering for the abolition of all modes but theirs.
And that was not the topic of my post.

Selective memories. PvP players are forever asking for the modes to converted into one. It's their number two most common reason to create a thread, after Group Therapy session disguised as Combat Logging threads. The Hotel California threadnought, in the way-backs, was originally started as a 'down with solo' notion.

The requests to remove PvP is a reaction to all of the comments seemingly requiring players to offer themselves up to those looking for targets. I have come to notice that the PvP crowd, while telling all to toughen up out there, doesn't take it's own advice, and toughen up on the Forum.

And how about the little party you're planning for if Mobius got sniped? Your total disdain for Mobius and PG's leaves you unable to notice your perception bias.

This is also DUE TO THE LACK OF INTERACTIONS between players (and NPCs btw too). The only way you can interact with players is comms or shooting. There is no trading between players, no missions by-for players, no supported player groups, nothing. You can say hi to a player and he may, may not respond or start shooting. So the reason why open is considered a murder place is because there is actually no other possible action you could potentionally do with players. Sure you can shoot other players together but it's still shooting. Same for NPCs but it's a different matter.
IMO by implementing true MMO gameplay content that allows players to interact with eachother besides shooting themselves open would be a far more friendly place and I assume many players would come back as it would be possible to provide proper escorts as of missions and player groups, etc.

There are many ways to interact in the game already:

  • PP (boring as watching snot dry)
  • BGS (somewhat buggy and chaotic influence wars and station shutdowns)
  • Trade (yes you actually can trade, but only Commodities)
  • Racing
  • PVP
  • Piracy
  • CG blockades
  • Competitive CZs
  • Kill stealing
  • Stealth Ramming
  • Fuel Ratting
  • Rock Ratting
  • Hull Ratting (coming soon)
  • Limpet Ratting (coming soon)
  • Multicrew (weak effect compared to wings but works over extreme distances)
  • Wings
  • Base assaults
  • Etc

If they had more ways to "interact" then most "bad guys" would just do it in PG. They hide not because of a lack of Open content but in order to avoid negative social consequences for their actions. However, if Open had a bonus effect to certain competitive actions, then at least there would be an Efficiency Penalty for hiding in the shadows. Or bonus for Opening yourself up to the current suite of player interactions.

Really? First Ive heard of it...care to share? And what exactly are the qualifications one has to have to be a hardcore soloist?

This should be a fun response...

i take it you want solo players penalised for not wantin g to be ganked for the lulz of sick minded individuals? i had thought you knew better about how the game works etc. its the undermining false argument all over 'solo shouldnt affect bgs because no way to stop it'. yes there is. play the bgs in whatever mode you are in on the other side INCLUDING ACKNOWLEDGING THE PLAYERS ON YOUR SIDE IN SOLO. solo has no 'advantage' over open. solo players are not hiding in some combat free risk free place. npcs are opposing us and i find them plenty challenging enough thank you. and combat was not intended to be the only way to play the BGS. others have said it before - assuming combat is the sum of all things is a mistake. play elite how it was designed dont complain its not Call of Duty in space.
