Not all of them are dudes.

Can't blame them. I don't agree with their methods. But I can see how it has come to this.
Open/private/solo are all the same with different levels of interaction. You can PvP the BGS from the safety of Private and UA bomb from the safety of solo.
They need to make the BGS only be effected by OPEN. If you are ever in solo with a UA it has no effect on stations.
Private and solo players need to stop dictating what players in Open do because they are too scared to come to open and do something about it.
There is nothing wrong with wanting a PVE friendly game. Also nothing wrong with wanting to kill every other player you see.
Give us a choice.
Open = PvP for players, BGS, UA bombing
Private/Solo = PvP turned off and nothing you do effects Open in any way.
blah!

Whats everyone mad about today?

It sure is. Every time someone mistakes anti-gank sentiment for anti-PvP sentiment when they get their victim freak on.You're right Ziggy of course, that concepts not prevalent on these forums at all..
The intention was to put the starter systems and the neighbors (eravate etc) into lockdown by the usual PewPew mechanics. This would have the effect of disabling shipyard, mission board, outfitting etc and causing difficulty to the new guys because, Although PS4 is not sharing our PC instance, The BGS and subsequently the systems are cross-platform.Nope. I've read the whole thread and I'm still completely baffled. Assume I know nothing at all about this game (I'm starting to think I don't) - can someone explain to me, in plain English, what is being sought after by these apparent PS4 gankers, and how they are planning to achieve it? I've seen othes asking but I've not seen any answers that I can parse.
One of these days, this vocal minority of PvP players which includes the Gankers are going to realize precisely how TINY their numbers actually are within the larger ED community.
Its laughable that they actually believe anything they do is going to have a significant impact on Frontier's plans. If anything, the few innocent players they do manage to destroy for no reason will just move over to Solo or a Private Group further driving up the numbers there which dominate the game far beyond that of OPEN Mode.
If anything...These miscreants have done more damage to their goals than anyone else could ever hope to.
[wacko]
How is it pathetic that some PVP players are pushing the BGS in their own way? by the same token anyone who pushes the BGS to affect others is pathetic...
Afaik some planned on getting stations into lockdown- which means no shipyard, which means sidey stays on that measly what, 5,6 ly-jumprange, which means only 1,2 systems to jump to who easily could get lockdowned too.
So to avoid this lockdown of the starter locations AP and ER they put a few bounty-hunting CGS in bc bounty hunting stops lockdowns or even avoids them If I got that correctly.
You guys are over reacting, the hand of god will manually prevent this.

Personally I don't care what mode people play in. Open Solo PG. They should all have a similar functionality. The difference is when people want to play competitively. For PVE players, some want to just do their own thing and not compete at all if they can avoid it, fine great, Solo and PG is in perfect balance in this situation. However, other PVE players want to compete, but they don't want to do it via PVP combat. The problem here is that in doing so, they are forcing PVP players in Open who want to do a mix a PVE and PVP to instead focus entirely on PVE in order to counter shadow attacks from PG/Solo. That is forcing another group to play a way they don't want to. That's no different from PVP players saying that PVE players need to play in Open so they can be shot. Neither is a fair solution. I hope we can agree here?
That is why the only fair solution is to give a slight advantage to Open players in the PVE activities that are competitive. That way the PVP players don't have to spend all their time playing PVE just to counter an equivalent number of solo/PG PVE players who are attacking them. They will be free to do other things, and PVE players can stay safe, and everyone gets to play the way they want. That sounds fair doesn't it?

The BGS is essentially 100% PvE. Killing other players only matters insofar as this may stop them (for a usually only very small amount of time) from doing their competing BGS work - that is if you even know that they are working against the faction you want to support, which is not always obvious.
Whether this happens in Open or Solo/Private does not make a difference there; BGS = PvE. Now it is true that in Open one may find themselves spending some time doing PvP if one is attacked by a player, but aren't we putting the cart before the horse here? A PvP players wants to play PvP. That they can experience PvP during PvE activities is not an "extra risk in their PvE".
It's the equivalent of how it is for PvE players who both trade and fight - getting interdicted by a pirate NPC during a transport mission does not detract from the mission, as I also spend a lot of time hunting pirates, so I might just as well add them to my tally. [There's the situation when they are under Magical Reputation Armor and thus I have to run instead of fight, but that is an entirely unrelated issue.]
For a PvE player who does not want to do PvP but still wants to stay in Open, getting attacked by a player during BGS activities does indeed pose an extra risk. For a PvP player in the same situation, it's just more of the thing they like doing anyway.
Now one might argue that there should be ways to advance or hinder a faction both through PvE and PvP directly, but I don't have any suggestions as to how to achieve this right now.
