US is packing a helluva lot more firepower and better intel now than in the 50's. I bet they could neutralize most of NKs feared artillery pretty quickly, before they can do to much damage to South Korea. Then it's a turkey shoot from there on out. NK equipment is a pile of rubbish.

The US would need China's approval, or it will be the same as before, in the 50s. The Chinese would just pour unlimited numbers of troops into the conflict.

True.. Let's hope they really are as fed up with the NK regime as has been portrayed in media.

(then again NK is seemingly loaded with rare earths, will they let that come under control of a unified western oriented Korea..)

No, technically China would have to take control of NK and the west would just have to trust them not to try to move south.
