Midweek Madness: Elite football team!

Bran... oh Bran...

Your centre back pairing is ridiculously lightweight!
How're they going to stand up to a pair of FDL's bearing down on them?

I'd swap out your CM's for the CB's... The Annie and Python should do much better... letting the eagles worry about pace...

Sub out the Viper 4 for a T7 in front of the defence (no one likes facing an ugly holding mid) and let the Viper 3 go box to box.

Sorry, but lose the Hauler, he's a utility player at best, drop the Cobra onto the wing and, like it or not, the FDL goes up front, playing off the gunship.

Good luck against the Thargoid 11....

There...'nothing like a bit of proofreading!

Oh so that's how it's going to be is it...! :D

Attention! Midweek Madness (MWM for short) is trademark The Buckyball Racing Club. Seeing as it's Bran I'll let it go this once tho. :p

Thanks Alec, I had no idea. It seems better than 'Wednesdays Wild Wonderings' which was my first choice or the obvious 'DO NOT ENTER - Bran has lost the plot again!' :D

To our Australian brethren, football is no that handbag game you play on an oval pitch.

To our American brethren, football is not played in Lycra with shoulder pads and helmets

Quick, fire up the Turbo charged Clipper before all the in-coming starts [big grin]

CMIV

American football, the true definition of a grinding game! ;)

(Sorry to our American CMDR's but I just cannot stay awake for 4 hours at a time! :D)

Can we have cricket next week :D

I was going to leave that until the Ashes were on... Next week might be Tennis doubles or possibly synchronised swimming... :D

Surely a vulture in attack (aka Gary Lineker)
Cutter and Clipper in defence (aka Chopper Harris, yes I am that old)

Vulture only has two shots in him so not really any good other then for a last minute sub!
And yes, you are old! :D

I see what you are saying but the problem witht eh FDl is that if it is caught in mid field it will take an age for it to get to the goal area again... We've all seen the threads about how low it's jump range is. ;) Plus the T7 reminds me of a Pastie eating grounds keeper who used to play with Sutton Utd!

Hauler is good for those short little runs and as a blocking player but I'd consider changing it for a Beluga. Nothing beats having a slow reliable dribbler on the team - Mods know about this with Maynard's reaction to hearing the word Beer where as Phillips get all giddy like a child. :D

By Thargoid 11 I presume you mean the Thagonian Janitors Athletic (For some reason that cracks me up)!

I came here thinking someone had found a way to play "foot"ball in the SRV.

OK, I'm spitballing here but ...

You pick a jettisoned commodity as the "ball".

Two SRV drivers volunteer to be the goals. They target the "ball", deploy their scoops and sit in their respective goal end positions.

The teams then attempt to bump the "ball" towards the opponents "goal". Assuming it gets into contact with the "goal" it should get scooped up and the owner of the "goal" can record a point for the opposing team and then reposition the "ball" back on it's center position.

We played canister football at one of the waypoints in Distant Worlds.

Are the cargo scoops on an SRV larger or smaller than those on a ship?

--------------- T-7 ---------------
---------conda --- vette --------
FdL---------------------------FdL
---------------FGS----------------
--------FAS---------Clipper-------
Cobra------------------------Orca
-------------Vulture---------------

Keeper a bit more mobile than the T-9, and needs to pass out of the back. Solid central defense pair with size and height to dominate attackers, and a FGS DM to stop attacks early with hard tackles. FdL flying fullbacks/wingbacks. Ballwinner in midfield with the FAS and the Clipper adds some flair. Cobra for an inside forward for dribbling mobility, Orca as winger - for speed. Vulture as a poacher striker.

I wonder...we could rename an activity "destructi-ball"

The rules...find a very tall mountain and drive the SRV to the top where one is allowed a standard repair...then launch off the top with wild abandon and glee in an uncontrolled fall. No mid crash repairs allowed...winner is whoever survives long enough to see the bottom with the most hp left. The use of directional thrusters is not allowed...this is a totally uncontrolled freefall.

Sounds cool actually ^
