ANNOUNCEMENT PlayStation 4 - Upcoming Hotfix

Now after the new update it is also the first time while playing the game that I had 3 server problems .
But what makes me the most worry on the normal PS4 is the performers hit when (in a matter of speaking) 3 flying ship are together .

I agree that a standard PS4 is going to struggle at times with frame-rate and I completely accept that. In fact, I don't find the game to be that bad really, except when in areas with a lot of activity (but only tends to persist for around a few hundred LS).

My biggest problem was with connecting to different server instances, which is independent of actual frame-rate and CPU/GPU power. I play on PC as well and sometimes it can take up to 10 seconds to drop in/out of Supercruise or Glide, but I find this duration to be completely acceptable. On PS4 recently I have been observing delays of up to one minute, which does suggest the PS4 server infrastructure is struggling somewhat (I am sure there are just as many, if not more PC players in the game than PS4).

Having said that for some reason last night was much better, although there did seem to be a noticeable absence of human players in my instance. I understand FD are working on the problem and I am sure it will improve with time, but I still wanted to make it known that this was being observed and to see if others were struggling the same way.

Not an attack on the game at all (life-long Elite fan here), just an attempt at constructive feedback.

Hi

Connection lost several times too, and on Blackmount Orbital i can acess Mission Board, sayS '' FAILED TO COMMUNICATE WITH SERVER'' i have only acess mission board in this base 1 time.

Had a few dropouts here, playing in solo. Frame rates have been consistently good on PS4 vanilla. But yes, just had to restart a couple of times: on relaunch everything is as it should be and I just have to re-engage super cruise or frame-drive. Living in the sticks. so it could be internet speed at my end.

Framerate in this game is a weird thing. I'd become accustomed to lower framerates around the stations, but the other day I came into a station and the framerate was smooth as butter. It really caught my attention, because it was a very complex "scene" that ED was rendering, yet it was soooo smooth! This was the exception for station entry, not the rule.

Related to this, I was in the middle of space with just a few other ships recently and the framerate dropped to what felt like 10-15 FPS for no good reason...

There seems to be something going on "under the hood" that affects FPS in an unpredictable way. The software developer in me would love to run the ED source code with performance analysis "instruments". It feels like the FPS dips is a solvable problem with just a little optimization.

BTW, I'm using solo play as my baseline (open play seems "broken" right now, and it definitely impacts FPS).

I think that tells you its all to do with networking rather than the engine, the framerates are effect by the servers. The worst framerate experiences I had was in people crowded stations and leaving the starter system. It was virtually unplayable trying to leave the first two systems

In solo? (see my last sentence)
