Engineers Where to buy your materials?

If you're a lazy pilot like me, is it possible to buy the materials the engineers need?

I need lots of mechanical scrap for The Dweller for example. Can I buy it somewhere, or do I have to go scavenging?

Nnnope, no way to buy that stuff. You have to search for it it in USSs or other "selfmade" shipwrecks... Or maybe you can find it at Dav's hope, but I'm not sure about the latter

Sorry to ask what might be a stupid question but what and where is this "davs hope" thing and well why is it a thing related to engineering?

Frontier set this up, so that you would have to play every gamestyle, to get your materials. It's not *quite* as bad as doing every basic training program on Earth, but they *did* try

Dav's Hope is an abandand mining base in (Hyades Sector DR-V C2-23, A5,44.818;-31.389) that spawns loads of materials

Create galaxy with myriad of planetary bodies. Ignore that variety and have people still go to single spots in order to earn money and / or materials. I don't get the whole design of it.
