Horizons Colonia updates

Hi all. Little on me. Played on and off for the first year (mainly because the game was so hard), but this is literary all i play now. Been at it for a couple of years. If i didn't rage quit and delete, I'd probably be triple elite. Did so twice. Don't plan to anyone.

On to my question. Second time to the colonia sector. Went before when it first opened. I reside there now. When will we get A rated ship modules and engineers this way? I can't do the trip back to the bubble. I've even thought about stopping playing for a while to let they area grow some more. Lack of decent outfitting is really turning a lot of people away from coming here. I might not had if i knew this first.

We seem to be getting approximately a CG a month at the moment which brings some sort of improvement to facilities. The last one got 17 extra systems and stations, including a couple more with a big selection of B-rated outfitting.

How long it takes that gradual improvement to get us as far as A-rated equipment and engineers, probably only Frontier knows. (Though, I think we'll always be in a position where if you want every option you need to go back to the Sol bubble for a bit)

I had no clue the CGs where helping put stations out there. I want one of these overpriced andacondas, but what's the point if i can't a rate it? What am I gotta do when someone decides 2 pick on me :(

hi,
saw your comments and had to reply.
I too have my base at Colonia Dream. Came here when Jaques was the only thing here.. tried mining but got blown out of the water faster than it takes to spit. Went back to the bubble.
now I am back better prepared and a totally new vision for myself.
Your comments have gotten me to think how immersed you are in the game.. even tho you say you are triple elite 2X over. I think that is great and you should truly know the imlications of living in the bubble means.... close contact with players, plenty of planets with whatever you want just a few jumps away.etc. Engineers up to the gazaoo if you are willing to pay the price to see them. All of this is Walmart Mentality influence by Starbuck mentality. You get your cake, pie and latte all at one time AND get to it it fairly cheap.
Now go 21000 + light yers away and you have a new community that is only 1 step above being a wild west town. Commodities are scarce, parts are scarce, missions are scarce because there is nothing really setup to support that kind of society. Minor Factions are starting to setup shop and yet demand far exceeds supply . It takes a LONG time for supplies to get to Colonia and its neighbors. You are not able to get your pie, cake and latte all at one time fairly cheap... you might get a burger and fries at a very hefty price to cover the cost of the FOB. Ships? the cost to get ships to colonia is staggering and time consuming... We are lucky to get b rated equipment out here let alone the really expensive A rated stuff. There are a LOT of people out there with the pioneering spirit... lot at the population booms going on right now.
There is even a rare item at Jaques... pretty soon there will be others, mark my word. I am happy that there are no walmarts, starbucks, Sears, Pennys, Hudson bays out here... makes life interesting and you live by your wits with what you have , not what you can get. You volunteer the idea that you CAN'T make the trip back.... why not. You made the trip out... going back isn't that hard. I am currently headed back with a tired old python that has mede the trip out and now I am going back, exploring and mining the entire way at 12 ly a jump. Yup, 12 ly a jump.... that is a lot of jumps to go and when I get back.. I will purchase the modules I want. put them in storage and then pay the FOB to get them back home. just like the old mail catalogs used to do. But you sound too young to understand what a mailorder catalog really meant... order and then wait 6-8 weeks for delivery while hoping that you ordered correctly and don't have to send back and wait another 6-8 weeks to see if you did it correctly. No internet, no phone orders... just slow boat to china freight. So get off your latte butt,, get that pioneering spirit back in place.. brave the void and do the trip back and get those A rated items that you are bemoaning the lack of. Good luck

Hello Yah-ta-hey,

I like your attitude, but the big problem with ED is that community goals have to be put in place to make changes. I feel like commanders should be able to adventure out to help a station like Colonia without having to have a community goal. If I fly out there with a load of goods that load should be put to good use and improve the station. Who knows, maybe one day commanders will be able to help struggling outposts by participating and not depending on community goals.

I absolutely agree with you.... to get an isolated community to prosper it takes a HUGE effort on the part of the population and obeying the laws of economics. Supply side equals demend side and there is a balance in the community... no growth. To increase growth... the demand side must be significantly greater than the supply side to stimulate trade and to insure growth. Only through CG can this scalability be achieved. Sadly, a single player won't even make a dimple in the growth curve. Even if he was Bill Gates and had a continuous fleet of t9's coming and going in an endless loop from Colonia to the bubble.
What do you fly? Anaconda, T-7 or T-9? Max for any and all including cutters is limited to around 400 tons give a little here or there. I have a python that has under 200 tns capacity.... That isn't going to do a thing to that supply side in meeting the demand. Any business is done with the goal for profit.... many business let the maintenance, upkeep, pay scales slide until it is absolutely vital to get it done. Colonia is no different. So if you REALLY want to help with the growth of a community (for the time being)... CG is the way to go and then it is very limited to construction of new stations, I have yet to see a station expanded or a base expanded to allow larger vessels access or have larger capacity for items they are not carrying at the moment. Gamers see ED as PVP, PVE, And all the other stuff... Me , I see a macro Economic game that is challenging in a way that the others can't even approach.
good luck on changing the universe, one dollar at a time. cheers.

Colonia is getting pretty good with last update. I count over 40 inhabited systems now. Missions are plentiful and well paying. Was doing really well with scan missions but that has tapered off a little since last update. I have been doing 1 jump sightseeing missions, stacking between 2 and 6 in my Python (no refresh) 1.5 - 8 mill per run. Most outfits are available up 7B.

I think I need to visit colonia, never been that far out yet

Couldn't pay me enough. I know I'd get there, wonder why I'm there, then realise I would have to do all that to get back, and that would be the end of the game for me. I'd be playing Ghost Recon 10 minutes after my arrival lol

I've been in the bubble for about a week now. Made enough money at colonia to buy an anaconda. I'm working to A rate and maybe engineer it. Hopefully I'll head back next month. I do miss it. I wanted a good ship i could do multi crew res hunting in.

Something I would like to see in the game is missions based on players that request ship transfers. The transfers would cost less but still be very profitable for someone willing to fly another persons ship back to the bubble or vice versa. If the ship is destroyed or goes missing, the ship is put back to where it was so nobody loses out.

I would quite like missions like that! If someone chooses to steal the ship, this could be allowed but unless the balance of the ship value is paid that person would be considered a target with a huge bounty.

anyway :)

I now have a conda battle ready, and clipper battle ready and im working on getting a cutter. I'm flying one of them back and transporting the rest. I need protection from griefers and potential aliens in the future.

If there isn't a bounty hunting CG in the bubble this week (unless it's going to be at Colonia!), I'll be spending the next couple of days jumping my battle python to Colonia and will grind my way to combat elite there.

I should sell my clipper and a rate my conda then make it support role for fighters. I wanna do that for multi crew haz res hunting to give other cmdrs a chance to say they've been out there
