Digital foundry ps4 v xb1 v pc comparisson

A few surprises there.
All console platforms run at Full HD (1080p).
No HDR (yet) on PS4 Pro
XB1 has better frame rate than Standard PS4.
XB1 has better anti-aliasing than Standard PS4.
Standard PS4 has better surface textures and draw distance in stations compared to XB1.
Performance mode on PS4 Pro does decent job of locking to 60fps compared to PS4/XB1.
Quality mode on PS4 Pro has better textures, at the expense of frame rate.
Hopefully DF will have another look for the XB1X upgrade.

It's worth mentioning that the Xbox version of the game wasn't running this good when it first launched. Frontier keeps optimizing the game with every update. So the PS4 version will probably get a lot better, especially if they're trying hard to get the framerates stable for PSVR support. Although, it's probably difficult to get it stable on the standard PS4.

Having started this game with an older pc, I got hooked only fer it to give up the ghost entirely. Switched over to xb1 and been playing it hard on the bone simply because it gives superior performance by a long way than my old pc.
A mid level gaming rig is still better but...an extra 7 to 800 quid fer smoother lines and somewhat faster loading times...tis hard to justify that outlay of cash when one is living from month to month, so Ill stay with the bone fer now. Im building a gaming rig, but funds or lack of mean its a long term project at best...the motivation to get it built fast has been negated by the fact that the game does actually run fairly well on the bone.
Daughter just started on ps4...gotta say that right now, Im happy with the bone. She gets stutters and lag every time shes in a station, but its new and most likely needs a few tweaks and twerks to make it better...the xbpone had sim8lar issues in the beginning. The new xbox scorpio should increase performance again...the claims are double what it is now which will rival a mid range gaming pc fer a fraction of the price.
