Powerplay Bounty Hunting in a hostile power system

Hey All

Not sure if this has been discussed but i am having issues participating in the Eravate CG because of this stupid mechanic. I am hostile in Eravate due to being pledged to ALD for the shields. Now i thought this was already changed in the last build but i get attacked by Federal Agents when i jump into the HIgh Rez site to farm bounties for the CG. Am i wrong to assume this was changed in the last build? or that it's a completely stupid mechanic? a wing mate of mine actually lost his Conda to the cops inside the High Rez site because my fighter set to defend fired onto the fed agents after they fired on my ship. Im sorry but if this is intended then it somewhat prevents participating in the CG.

ALD has Imp hammers (rail gun) as her faction weapon. You need to pledge to Aisling Duval for 'Prismatics'.

As far as hostile status goes, if you are 'wanted' the power agents will attack you, otherwise they leave you alone. Previously it was a pain in that merely being pledged was enough to make you a target. I think FD have got this one right in its current incarnation.

If you are wanted in the system, you'll be attacked by Power ships.

If you are carrying merits of any kind (be it cargo or undermining), you'll be attacked by Power ships.

Sorry to say but you are incorrect. I am pledged to Aisling, and was recently attempting the A. Prime CG that just completed, turned in 25 mil in bounties and was one of the top 10. Had no problems on that day at all even though I was considered a hostile in that system, no agents attacked or anything. I then left to do something else for a day and returned when I had dropped down to the 10% status to build it back up to the top 10. I was not wanted in the system and had no active bounties on me, but I had been farming merits in Yuri Grom's Anarchy controlled system. Might of farmed some merits from E. Mahon as well, but if I did, I only did it in Anarchy systems, but regardless, the moment I jumped into the High Res I was immediately attacked by the power play ships of the system, and to make matters worse, they never turned red or wanted after attacking me, I was going ....purely it was , I fired back and immediately I became wanted, this is poor game design, you should be able to defend yourself without repercussion when attacked. Well, now the system authorities were after me after I killed the attacking power play ships, well, I went back to the station and got into a sidewinder to clear the bounty so I could continue the CG. Would you believe it, I was still inside the docking bay, just lifting off the pad and a power play begins to fire on me inside the station, not only does he not turn "wanted" for the attack, but the station doesn't respond to fire inside the docking bay, so basically he can fire on me with impunity and I have to just sit there and take it. Now if I had returned fire inside the docking bay, the station would have obliterated me instantly, just total and whoever came up with this design is so short sighted. So I went ahead and had the system security kill me to clear the active bounty and said the hell with doing that CG or any other from now on. Can't do CG's and PP at the same time I guess, unless of course, the CG is in your PP's system, because pretty much most of the other PP factions will be hostile to whichever PP you are aligned with.

Of course once I get what I need from Aisling, a quick kiss and her shields, will drop her and stay away from PP. Do not like how it is set up, I do not like it when someone can fire on you and not turn wanted, its the same with bounty hunters when you have a bounty on you, they can fire on you with impunity, if you kill them, it raises your bounty or worse yet, incures a bounty on you in the system that you might not currently have an active bounty in. And there is no way to clear a bounty unless you die, or wait the 6 days for it to go dormant, then be nice another 6 days for it to go to Legacy, then pay it off and clear your name. Unlike others, I do not like to fly around dirty and try to keep myself in the clear. But sometimes things happen and you get the stupid bounty and no way to clear it other then specified above. It should be that if a ship fires on you, be it PP or BH, then you should be able to defend yourself against them without incurring a further bounty. I mean, they don't have to necessarily become wanted when they fire on you, but at the same time you shouldn't have to become "Wanted" in that system for defending yourself.

So you're an open supporter of one power in a military war, you're in the territory of another power during this war, and you're complaining you got shot at?

Did you hand in those merits before you went to Assellus Primus?

Not being wanted simply means that bounty hunters and authority vessels aren't going to attack you, and means absolutely nothing in terms of PowerPlay ships.

It's not a war.

And OP, Martin's right. If you didn't collect those merits, you still had them on your hull. Federal Agents scanning you in their exploited/control systems would determine you were actively hostile, and allow them to shoot you with impunity, despite your local clean status.

2.3 allowed PP NPCs to determine actively hostile from passively hostile, and they no longer have impunity to fire on you if you're only passively hostile.

(Active, here, means that you either have uncollected merits on your hull or you are carrying merits in your cargohold.)

Powerplay has nothing to do with the Feds. When you go to another power's territory, you show as hostile, but no NPCs care about that. If the feds shot you, it's because you committed a crime - nothing to do with powerplay. Nobody can scan you to see merits. They're not cargo.

PP NPCs can scan you and see if you are holding merits. If you are they will attack.

Please tell me what type of scanner you can use to see whether another ship is carrying merits. I'd like to go and get one so that i can test it.

Players can see the cargo merits carried with the Manifest Scanner, however the NPCs were given the ability to see combat merits as well.

I was pledged to Yuri showing as hostile while participating in the Asellus Prime CG and had no issues.

I've done months and months of powerplay. I go to RESs, nav beacons, stations, planets, USSs - most of the time marked as hostile - and I've never been shot at by the feds. I've had a few interdictions and seen a few opposing power's operatives in RESs and CZs. They're normally marked "enemy" so you can shoot them without penalty. I've never heard so much rubbish as what people post in this section of the forum about powerplay.

Re: Hostile powers

Ah, this is exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks for the info guys, I was kind of afraid to pledge to someone on the off-chance I would be instantly murdered by everyone.

I've been pledged for the last three months and I go everywhere. Most of the time I'm marked as hostile. I can't remember a single interdiction because of PP, and even when I've been RES farming, nobody has given me any trouble. That's in Solo and private mode. In one instance, I saw an Adder marked "enemy" from an opposing power, and he kept helping me kill the bad guys, so I left him alone.

I think the devs must have nerfed the interference right down. I used to get an occasional interdiction and get attacked occasionally in the RES, but not anymore.

You say 'nerf', I say made the 'secret' war of privateer and murder from the shadows in loose support of a political personage actually make sense because it now abides by whatever legalities exist in the locality.

Now, I just want the KWS to allow us the ability to see merits attributed to the other CMDRs. It should help assuage the possible ramifications of the Pilots' Federation bounties.
