solo vs live

Greetings
Just wondering pros and cons of solo or live game play. been playing solo for a year or so and was just wondering if live might be more fun.
just opinion guys no big deal..
Thanks..

There's really only a couple of questions to ask yourself.

1: Would you have more fun if you were interacting with other players?
2: Would you have more fun if there was a chance for them to be hostile?

If no to both, stick to solo; yes to both, go open; yes to #1 but no to #2, join Mobius or another PvE group.

Well theoretically both are live. What effects a system in Open will effect the same in Solo. The only difference is you aren't seeing other players in Solo, but the galaxy is happening at the same time with the same results.

My suggestion other than mentioned with Mobius is to try it in a crappy ship at first. See how it works and get used to it. No sense getting blown up over and over again in your expensive trust main ships until you get a feel of open...

i switch between open/ groups/ solo, just how i feel. sometimes i want to spent some qality time with myself, sometimes i want to have fun in a group, and sometimes i want to have the surprises (dangers and joys) of unknown player encounters. pobably 30% solo, 45% open, and 25% groups on average.

it's a game which allows all of it, and you can switch any time.

This exactly. :)

Open is good if you want more crazy Elite expiriance. If you go open at alien base site/exploit system you will witness all kind of crazy interactions. If you like your game more unpredictable go for open.

Just so long as ye remember a few unspoken rules...

1...Never fly without rebuy.
2...Dont complain on forums when/if ye get ganked...not with this crowd.
3...Have fun...when it stops being fun, see number 2.

Simples ^

solo IS live. its just there are activities you have to do indirectly for example by playing the BGS how it was DESIGNED to be played; whereas in open you can be lazy with the BGS, and just pvp kill any commander on the opposing side who you get instanced with, in a situation to affect the BGS in a minor way. solo requires more work and is no less dangerous in the main except its rare for OP ships in wings to interdict you for no reason and just gank you. FD changed npc pirates so they are no longer gankers - they tend to scan you first and will leave if you are carrying nothing but some limpets lol.

Oh well last night I was outside Jameson Memorial scanning wakes from players, because grinding, and someone in a Fed Corvette just starts shooting me for no reason. So yeah it's a blast........

You can have fun but that story I shared is what the majority of it is anymore unless you have a group before hand. People (by people I mean teenagers) are grievers and will usually join your wing/ship with one goal in mind; to troll you and make everything less fun for you.

In my story about last night, I didn't respond in any way just boosted closer to the station so the station itself would respond to the violence. It didn't really bother me, the stations weapons can easily give me the vicarious joy of doing my dirty work. I wasn't mad, and that's the bad part. because I'm used to it and I shouldn't be. I should know better than to expect to collect frame wake data outside what should be the safest station in the game (and the ONE that has every module.... of 400 billion systems.... ONE station with every module) and expect to just be left alone.

So my advice is to think about joining PVE because the "inconvenient" times I have in Open is about 83% of the experience. There is still 17% where it will be pure fun. I was at Hip 14909 the other day and CMDR Sourceologist and CMDR Artume were also there as well as a few others. I had jettisoned my UA/UP before anyone else came because they were destroying my stuff and both the named commanders shared their pieces, unlocking the doors for me and sharing the Evil/Good experiences of the Alien machine with me. It was a blast. And I couldn't have had an unplanned experience like that in Single/PVE play but on the same hand I kind of hoped someone would be there which was why I only brought the UA/UP and no relic from guardian sites.

TL:DR- Count on 1 of every 5 experiences being pleasurable to YOU. The other 4 will be teenagers having fun which unfortunately means you'll not be having fun.

Good write-up and I'm in no way being critical, but there are two stations that have all modules. One was created during a CG a while back.

Edit: I Sola Prospect in Brestla.

this i do too at times, though only single/open cause I'm not a member of other groups.

I didn't know that? is it out in Jacques station place?

Ah, maybe now it will start to take off! It's about time someone started crying about griefers.

indeed crying, especially in the parts where it says "inconvenience" and "didn't bother me because I'm used to it"...

But I have to say... sitting around waiting at a forum for it to escalate to something of an argument (aka- "take off") so you can make comments like that about someone in hopes of a negative reaction... that sure sounds exactly like waiting outside a heavily populated station to randomly attack someone whom otherwise wouldn't have interacted with you unless they absolutely had to... wonder what you do for fun in the game...
