Horizons Lockdown sucks when you can't do anything about it.

It's not that I'm against the idea of lockdowns, I think it adds an extra dimension to the game and makes for some intriguing gameplay. It's just being unable to balance the scales by having no means to counter the situation.

Where it sucks is that Frontier have not thought it through. So the system is in lockdown... how to get it out of lockdown, why go bounty hunting of course (something I enjoy doing). Which you can't do if you've got cargo you can't unload and therefore cannot change to another ship that would let you try and counter the lockdown.

Result: You can't play the game. You have to wait until the lockdown ends... without any idea when that will be. So I'm basically stopped from playing the game for an undetermined amount of time. Or blow myself up and lose the best part of 80 million credits which is not a choice.

At least give me the option to change a ship and leave the cargo behind in the ship you brought it in (even if it means flying to another station that's not in lockdown). You can do it with modules so why not cargo??... is that unrealistic that a station would insist that all cargo be removed from a ship and transferred to another ship? The difference in volume between an empty ship and a full ship is ZERO. The station still needs to keep the garage/storage yard filled with the space your ship takes up regardless of whether it contains 100's tonnes of cargo or noting at all.

Can't go exploring as a cargo ship is not outfitted for exploration.
Can't go into combat due to extreme risk and possibility of being destroyed.
Can't go mining because that would require changing a ship or modules.

Thanks Frontier from actively stopping me from playing your game in any meaningful way.

I wish lockdown would be harder and would happen BEFORE a war/civil war/elections start. Lockdown is the perfect weapon to stop opposing players for doing things except bountyhunting. It's a good defensive option!
Controlfactions are way too hard to defend at the moment. We need harder and especially faster lockdown!

Before going to a station, check it's status in the system map. If it's in total lockdown, don't bother landing there since, as you found out, it's a waste of time.

Lockdowns are caused by either a state of war or if enough commanders have sold enough "UA's" (unknown artifacts) on the black market there. UA's cause your ship to rust from the inside out. Sell enough of them on the black market and the station will suffer the same fate. Remedy is bringing in enough Meta Alloys (which can still be sold to the station in commodities). It takes quite a lot of them to undo the damage done by UA's.

Please do a Google search for "barnacle locations" if you would like to do further research on (1) what they are and (2) where they can be found. If you're new to the game, you may find this very interesting. Also, if new, do a search on "unknown artifacts" and look at some of the videos. Very odd little things.

BTW, what's the station you're referring to?

Please don't confuse Lockdown with UA-interferences

Lockdown is caused by crimes like murder, pirating or smuggling and is meant to prevent further illegal activities, increasing security and control massively to protect the faction that ownes the system/station.
The duration is variable and the only thing possible during lockdown is bountyhunting.
Lockdown affects a complete faction and all their assets

Shut down through UA-interferences is something complete different.
Here the station experience technical issues due to trade from UA's (and other alien stuff) on the Blackmarket. This can only be cured by delivering Meta-Alloys to this specific station. Market is open for meta-alloys and food. Nothing else except powerplay contact is working!
Shutdown through UA-interference is only affecting this specific station, no matte which faction owns the station! The duration can be much longer than from lockdown!

Every time I get on to play this game there's always something going on. A game you're supposed to be able to play your way, you can't play your way anymore!
They killed the trading and now the only way to really make any type of money is to do passenger missions, that take you nearly to the center of the Galaxy to make any type of real money!

I for one I understand people want to play the game as if it's real role playing and all that other stuff that's cool. And if you play like that this should really have you upset you mean to tell me if this was real with people living all over the Galaxy that we there would be no way to make money. The only way would be to be to fly people around or combat and possibly get yourself killed?
if it was real who would really be doing these kind of things the things that would really be making money would be Trading. So now on top of it all, I come back after a couple of months of not playing, because the game does have me upset with all the nonsense they're doing to it. I start a community goal that just started maybe a day or two ago and now the station is on lock-down and I can't sell my goods to them! what's the point of having a community goal in this system? that make no type of sense, people need to start to boycott this god-forsaken game.

It's pretty ridiculous that a community goal would send you to a station in lock down, likely in that state because of crappy background sim or trolls.

what a joke this game can be sometimes.

ED Koolaid drinkers will be by shortly to flame OP.

Working as intended!
Remember the CG about the new federation outposts in the Pleiades where imperial cmdrs have taken part to do EVERYTHING that is possible to prevent this happening?
Legit gameplay and awesome as well. Putting a CG station into lockdown can surely be abused but it's also legit if people want to sabotage the goal of the CG :)

To OP again:
Sell your cargo somewhere else and move on somewhere else. You can call also your stored ships/modules to another place. Lockdown is meant to shut down this specific place. It's absolutely legit and no reason to complain about.
You are not stopped playing the game since there are thousands of other stations around. You don't need to stuck yourself there

having no means to counter the situation.

bounty hunting reduces the duration of lockdown.

alternatively you can trigger a conflict for the faction lockdown, which will break the lockdown.

you can always jettison cargo, if that is what hinders you of going bounty hunting. or sell your cargo at a different station and return to lift the lockdown.

so many possibilities!

yup that didnt take long

i'm not there, im busy exploiting miller thing, but i feel bad for the people who joined CG, schlepped all the way out there, only to have the door shut on them. that's just stupid.

Just take a look on the system map before traveling to this place, it is always mentioned in the CG description that such things can happen ;)
Own fault....

How can you not play the game?

I assure you that there are at least several dozen thousand systems which are not in lockdown.

Every time I get on to play this game there's always some other no-scene going on. A game you're supposed to be able to play your way, you can't play your way anymore! So now that of it off... I come back after a couple of months of not playing because the game does have me upset with all the nonsense they're
doing to it. I start a community goal that just started maybe a day or two ago and now the station is on lock-down and I can't sell my goods to them... it took me 19 jumps to get there!!! what's the point of having a community goal in this system??? this make no type of sense people need to start to boycott this god-forsaken game.

Trading isn't dead! It may not be a fast money earner, but look around a bit. Find what is good. It takes a while, but get allied with a small bubble of systems.
Then, Wallah! (why people say that I still don't know)
Stack a bunch of delivery missions from an allied base. Deliver. (should get a million or two) Return with goods. (Preferably a collection mission)Sometimes a round trip can net you 2 to 4 million. Do this ten times in a row. I'll say it again. Wallah!

I am now assuming this is Darkmoore Orbital (?) that we're discussing. I'm in the same boat. Went there full of cargo, no way to dump it.

Sitting in the hanger, waiting for the conditions to change.

CGs are a way to get the Community together to improve quality-of-life for (usually) PowerPlay (Feds,Imperials,Alliance, pirates).
An example reward for the Power has been for stations or capital ships to be built.

Lockdowns are there as a way to disrupt attempts by PowerPlayers to advance these goals.
Bountyhunting is usually the way to counter a Lockdown, but, as was mentioned earlier in this thread, UA bombing can also disrupt these attempts.

I have pledged to Aisling Duval because her ideals match my own beliefs more than the other Powers.
There was one CG for a cap-ship not long ago that was also interrupted via a lockdown, so we Imperials had to change tactics and go bountyhunting ,
and after delivering a certain amount of Bounties, the Lockdown was lifted.

It took around 3days, the CG was eventually advanced enough in tiers to acquire the cap-ship reward, but it drastically hampered reaching higher tiers.

Lockdowns are part of the game mechanics, they are what they are. I think they add a bit more variety into the mix that is this game.

Players make a lot of credits from the CG and bountyhunting, have fun, accept the situation and counter it, or go play something else.

I don't know what you are talking about :|
Trading didn't changed since beginning of game (except rares) and makes still 2mil rpofit for a load from a Type-9. So 10mil an hour is still the same as 2 years ago.
They payout for missions got increased insanely!!! We were never able to make so much money like now!

Bulk trading/smuggling results still in 10mil/h or even 20mil/h if you know the best routes. Everything else is luxury!
And the payout of CG's is very low compared to everything else in the game. It's not even worth the way if you don't have at least a Type-9 or a Cutter.

You don't know what I'm talking about. And I have no idea what you're talking about. :S
The background simulation changes way too much for you to bounce around within the bubble trying to make 10 to 20 million dollars, which I don't believe you can do anymore.

And what I was referring to was really long-range trading and that's completely dead. I guess Elite dangerous doesn't see a need for long-range missions anymore, like you were able to do two years ago.
When you can stack the missions and drop off at 10 to 20 different locations, wile at the same time ducking the cops from scanning you and fighting off pirates trying to interdict you, and make anywhere from
80 to 90 million. They killed the money so
bad but yet armor for your clipper cost 500 million.
And you say we would never able to make so much money like now,!?!
[cool]:O

Please tell me what game are you playing? Valkyrie?

If this is the current CG with "bring power generators" and "shoot bad guys" at the same location, one can just sit it out (there are people currently doing the "shoot bad guys" CG which will eventually clear the lockdown) or go to Maia, Darnell's Progress (planetary base), sell those goods (you will make a small amount of profit), reconfigure there for combat, go shoot bad guys and clear the lockdown.

Sometimes, war breaks out at the wrong time and "stuff" happens. Sort of like life but without the re-buy screen.
