One Hour and 45 Min??

You'll love this.

When I arrived I realised I was somewhere "famous" so I immediately went to buy mugs.
They had 4 mugs in stock, so I bought 'em.
I then realised that I couldn't hand-in my mission because my cargo bay was full of mugs.
So, I had to sell the mugs I'd just bought so I could hand-in the mission.
Rare goods don't appear back in stock if you sell 'em so the station was then showing as having no stock.
So, I left empty-handed.
And bitter.

I realise I could have just waited for the commodities board to refresh but, by that point, I just wanted out of there.

 :D

That's harsh!

It wasn't a painful trip. I'm landed at Hutton now. No mug for me though.

Anyone else considering the trip might want to check the state first.

It took me this long to get across a system to one station. There has to be a way to choose which star in the system you want to jump to. Such a waste of time.

For the MUG .... getting past my attempt at humor, if you are like a lot of us then you are learning. Questions, I.e. Why did it take me so long, are always welcome by this community. If you look at the system map and look for ta station, you will see a set of numbers indicating how far IT is from the sun where you enter. Light years (LY) are further than Light Seconds (LS). Hutton Orbital is 22 LY from entry. There may be a way of figuring the time to distance but I do not know it.

I usually browse the forums on my tablet on the way to Hutton. If it gets too much then plot a course out. But if you go or have been I hope you you got some of the rares there for your trip.

Yeah there was a thread somewhere about players setting that lockdown intentionally. Takes three days to clear and some BH effort. Could be rough.

No big deal in my case. I'll leave my main CMDR parked there and grab a mug when the lockdown is over. I have 3 other licenses to play with. :)

Suggestion: Wish for Micro-jumps or wait for Stockholm Syndrome

Really, just because we're used to it, and, to paraphrase this and many other threads, just because it's 'from the original Elite' or in 'the history of Elite!', doesn't mean it's the right thing from a design perspective. This is 2017, not 1985. I loved the original Elite on my Commodore 64, but I prefer modern games with modern mechanics. Just my perspective. :)

A good mechanic to have would be to allow an FSD micro-jump to other stars within system. It should probably also do fairly significant damage to your FSD, since it's not a normal jump. Sort of like using the neutron star highway, only more so.

Cheers,

Actually I believe supercruise was something the community wanted - not long before you joined so I am sure you know this but just like to pick at it.

Star-systems are systems for a reason, they are gravitationally bound. Your h-jump takes you to the biggest gravity-well - deal with it.

I like super cruise! It's great.

I really just think there are more cool things that could be done with it which would be of benefit to everyone, even the Hutton Truckers.

You'll notice I'm not saying to remove super cruise, or anything of that ilk, like you said, I've been here a long time (played the game since release followed it all through the kick starter) so I know the "General Consensus"

I just happen to disagree with it in one small area and think it's worth continuing to bring it up, as Super Cruise is a great system which allows interdictions between players, and can have various gameplay elements added into it as the main travel system.

Adding things to it isn't a taboo for me though, and I'm not a "Trucker" so I don't have the ... hmm... sentimental? (not trying to be offensive!) attachment to the long trip to hutton orbital.

To me, it seems like something that could use work, similar to the signal source system.

Yes, a Hutton Mug on the ship dashboard! Please FDEV, make it so!

Yes! This! I've been out to Hutton Orbital 3 times. I want a mug for my dashboard.
It would complete the look and feel as I play "Eastbound and Down" on a continuous loop all the way there.

I flew to a station yesterday that was 350,000 + ls and it took MAYBE 20 min.
Fed the dog, went to bathroom, had a smoke and was there

I floor it and level the speed once 10k out.
But an hour and 45..... No. You had to have done something wrong

Nope. Hutton Orbital is much farther out. It typically takes about 90 minutes, but if you fly above (or below) the system plane, you can avoid planets and suns, whose mass slows you down. The minimum trip time I've seen claimed is 75 minutes, but it might be possible in less time.

My favorite story about Hutton is about the guy who flew there in his Anaconda. :D Think about it...

(It's funny because Hutton is an outpost without any large landing pads.)

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.

Yeah, I bet that commander was laughing too. Right up until they put an axe through the screen. :)
