The python is already too good.

So it can have raider parts fitted outside, but workers are not licenced to modify that internal space to fit fighter bay?

As Clint once said, "A ship's got to know it's limitations."
The SLF is an equalizer for less powerful ships, not a universal buff to the already powerful.
The python is to thin to carry a fighter bay. That is the main reason why. To fit one, you would have to make it thicker.
The python at it's highest point is around the same height as a keelback, but where you would have a fighter bay it is too thin.
Nothing to do with doors etc. The ship is just not built for one in the first place and it wouldn't fit.
Erm... ok, but then why does the Fed Corvette, Imperial Cutter, and Anaconda have them?
They aren't "Less powerful" at all... Quite the opposite!
Having said that, I get why they chose select ships for it. I think it would be more fun if more could use it, but I get it.
I really dont get why the smallest SLF ship has no second seat though! crazy missed opportunity there. Though it seems like it was created before they really knew they were going to even HAVE fighter control as a multicrew thing.
It's worth noting that my Grandfather spent most of world war 2 on aircraft carriers that had been made from "trading vessels" with a flat top whacked on them as a conversion.
- I have some very interesting stories for another time and place about that if anyone is ever interested - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Archer_(D78)
On a more game related note while a current Python with slf would probably be considered too powerfull in game balance terms - just like we have had the Cobra\Viper 4 and the Imperial Eagle , it might be interesting to see a future Python variant fitted with an slf - Alliance variant perhaps ? - would probably have to sacrifice speed\agility and perhaps 2 or more of the class 3 hardpoints ? - hey how about a Krait as it's slf if I'm theorycrafting.
Or perhaps that's the illusive "Panther Clipper" ?
and while i'm thinking about it - Moray Starboat slf for the Beluga![]()
None of those ships can park on a Medium pad either. Python is King of all-round; give it a fighter bay and it becomes Emperor. It'd just be too good.
I'd be happy with more ship variants based on fighter loadouts, however. Somewhere we need a ship that's mostly a mobile fighter squadron platform.
Simply the fact that hull and design limitations apply in-game like in real life, all the better for it. Try to fit a surf board in a full-size sedan even though some smaller cars can do it...
By this logic the T6, the T7 should also have SLF and an Anaconda should easily take a Sidewinder on-board.

Well T6, yeah, T7 yeah, why shouldn't space cow hauling ships have the ability to bring an escort? And as to the Sidey in a Conda, it matters whether the Sidey is bigger than a C5 Module slot, not smaller than the Conda, but yeah to me anything that has Class 5+ optionals gets an SLF, and I kind of don't care about the "Its too thin" concept either on the Python, if it claims 6 C6s it should be able to retrofit at least 1 C5, these are all designed as modular upgrades (meaning plug n play). But hey, I'm playing the game and not building it.
Keelback lands on medium and carries a fighter. I understand it has nothing else going for it besides the SLF, but it still qualifies.
I really didn't expect this all to continue for 4 pages hah. I hope I haven't anyone off.

I mean fair enough, but considering any time someone complains about the game being a grind the backlash is "Do the work or don't play". I'll leave the rest of my point unstated.
I'm really just bummed about it because tbh I hate big ships in combat, but I want to multi crew with a friend who is just starting out. Thing is I'm not gonna trust him with a combat conda's worth of rebuy (being new) and fly the SLF which I would prefer, and I have 0 interest in actually playing conda style combat, and lastly sharing guns is fun for a few minutes but we'd rather fully control a ship so SLF sounded ideal. Anyway, guess I'll dump him enough expensive cargo to buy a Viper

I always thought the Keelback was a T6 with a SLF hanger. I agree that we could do with a T7 varient with a SLF hanger as well.
