So if we say start offline,can we still go online with the same saved game?
I hope so i would not want to start all over again just to play online.

There's single player offline mode, it will be separate game basically, with it's own universe with far limited dynamism comparing to online counterpart;
Currently we are testing online, so no offline mode available yet to test;
We don't know about level of impact player will have on galaxy in single player offline yet, however FD have said many times they will try to make it enjoyable as much as possible. We don't know anything more, sorry.

David, and team...please don't have the offline single player limited in dynamism, or anything else at that...please.

I wish so much to be able to 'play' an offline character in ED with the fullness of the game. It's very important.

Thank you, my friends. :)

Whats singleplayer like? Is this an MMO?

Hello im looking to get the beta soon and i wondered if singleplayer is a good experience. I heard scenarios for singleplayer like tutorials. But is that just a tutorial? Then i can go into a "main" singeplayer? Or is it just a tutorial for singleplayer?

Well if you dont understand i just want an open world experience in singleplayer. So i can do things like trade/mine/fly around all that stuff. Is that possible in singleplayer?

Yup you can do exactly that - in Beta1 from the 29th July.

The current single player mode is just a series of missions to teach flight and combat controls - so don't be confused by the current build.

Will there be complete offline?

Hi everyone I'm new to this community only just buying premium beta a few days ago. My internet is bad at certain times of the day and may sometimes drop out. I know single player is planned but will it be possible to get passed the launcher and initiate offline mode with no internet. Please respond as I would like to know as soon as possible. Any help is appreciated

So beta has these things?

Well if its open world in beta and if i understood right then thats great.

So i can mine etc in the beta? Awesome!

I also have some more questions:
Does the game save?
If i die do i lose credits or just my ship weapons and cargo?
Does mining bring good money?
How can I get bounties?

Mining isn't in yet and probably won't be implemented in the first Beta build on the 29th. Basically it's a low risk feature to do in terms of development and therefore not a priority right now IMO. I'm guessing it'll come sometime during Beta though...

All I hope for the singleplayer is for it to be like the multiplayer. It doesn't matter to me about dynamic persistent universe. An example of this is the previous elite games. If the devs cook up an experience like that in which I require no internet connection what so ever to play, it will be magical.

So is there saving also is there other sources of earning money in the beta?

In Solo-offline, I believe that the save-game is stored locally and can be reverted to.

In any online mode, the ability to revert to a save-game would open up all sorts of exploits, so the game is saved (on the server), I believe, every time a player changes instance (i.e. normal > super-cruise and vice-versa, making a hyper-jump, ending a gaming session).

I'm really not a fan of the way that the games industry has basically moved to a mandatory multiplayer paradigm. It seems that every game must now have multiplayer (whether it's tacked on or an integral part of the design). Looking back; my favorite gaming experiences have almost all been single player. Never much liked online multiplayer (though I do have fond memories of console multiplayer games with a bunch of friends sitting on the couch having fun in split-screen or whatever).

This is the most disappointing aspect of this new space-sim revival. All of them seem focused on multiplayer. I really would have preferred a rich single player game. I think single player offers more depth and superior options in terms of story-telling and immersion.

There's nothing that breaks immersion more than seeing human players in the game world. I tried the Destiny beta on my brother's PS4 for example and was completely immersed in the game until I went to the hub location and saw scores of human players sprinting around between the shops and breakdancing. It just takes you out of the game world. You're no longer an elite warrior of the distant future. You're you and you're on the couch playing a game and some dude in Michigan or Tokyo or wherever is also on his couch playing and doing silly things with his avatar. I hate that!

So yeah, I'm hoping that there is some serious thought put into single player. I do, however, plan to play this game in multiplayer mode primarily unless I find the experience unbearable. The game was designed as a multiplayer game so I want to give it a shot in the way that the developers intended it to be played.

I just think that story-telling has largely been the one element of games that has not seen much progress of late. All of the focus has been towards sandbox and multiplayer.

I just mean for offline mode thats all.

A fully offline mode isn't available yet and I don't think we'll see one in Beta either. They still need to test the multiplayer aspects as much as possible. You will be able to play it single player online though. That is, you still play in the same galaxy as everyone else except you won't see or meet any other players in this mode.
