Finally put my stamp on a system. Check your shoes

I'm very pleased with myself right now :-D

Got a few discoveries on a quick run with nothing to do.
Found it about 800 lys from Maia
But I'm proud of my full system here. She's sexy. ... pristine even

I'm not an Explorer so that explains my giddiness lol
You never forget your first.

I took the advice I've read recently and made it a point to had towards absolutely nothing.
I rode the Z axis down and didn't have to go far.
Glad I'm immortalized, but this exploring really not for me. All that scanning was just too much lol

That's good advice.

You need a high tolerance for repetition to be an explorer. I still find it hard to believe that the first time I left the bubble was to go on the Distant Worlds Expedition. (I might not have gone, if I truly understood what I was getting into!) What works for me is to listen to good music and to fall into the rhythm of exploration. It can be relaxing after a while.

Or read the forums if you are on a PC and have extra monitors, or watch TV or exercise between jumps...

I sometimes read the forum while in supercruise. When I'm exploring, I usually only do a system honk, scan the nearby worthwhile objects, and then move on. That leaves some stuff for the next explorer to claim and keeps me from getting too bogged down.

I'm sitting at the last station, Boewnst, before you get to Colonia. I've never see the stars packed so tightly in the sky before. It's really cool. :)

No one is forcing you to scan everything :)

You can just go places and selectively scan the shinies like ELW, WW and AWs. View every system as a Christmas present you open with honking and you'll go: socks, socks, knitted sweater, socks, ELW!, socks, sweater, underpants?, socks, 2 terraformable WWs!, socks, etc.

That is quite possibly the best description of exploring that I've ever read!

Why thank you. Frontier, I give you permission to use it on your website. You're welcome.

So instead of:
EXPLORE
With 400 billion star systems to explore, there’s always something new to see. Charting the unknown will earn recognition, credits and see your name on the galaxy map forever.

it would be:
EXPLORE
Socks, socks, knitted sweater, socks, ELW!, socks, sweater, underpants?, socks, 2 terraformable WWs!, sock

Absolutely :)
I remember when I had my first 'you discovered this place'. I was scanning a lot of stuff on an unplanned jaunt to the galactic west of the bubble. I scanned this and that, and this and that, landed on stuff and went ooh and aah while taking space selfies.

On the way back home, I was in a hurry to meet my son at LHS 336 so it was a case of jump, honk, another load of beigeballs, next, jump honk, hey, is that planet blue, etc...
