Gold rush storyline, new station 1000ly beyond sothis

[fluff]prospectors have found a system containing the highest concentration of low-temperature diamonds ever seen by man. an old fashioned gold rush has started and the Sothis miners are a blur of activity onboard Newholm station, preparing to sever it's jump module for reuse. they have begun forging a new station to claim the system. they need massive amounts of resources to make the jump.[/fluff]

[fluff]the Sothis miners detonate Newholm station's Jump drive connector umbilical and it starts spinning, obscured by wreckage from the separation. another explosion follows, correcting the jump drive's rotation. the new station, a dark wheel against Newholm's grey silhouette. the jump drive drifts into a new housing in the dark wheel, igniting far larger engines around it's core. dark clouds and light begin to surround the station before it disappears in a flash of chilling thunder [/fluff]

[fluff]Emergency! the station's inertial braking has failed! as you are hearing this, you are our only hope - the port damper-!#!£41a!c

the station has come out of witchspace in a deteriorating orbit in an asteroid field! - gravity systems are offline, thrusters are dead, power is gone. i think the refinery ring has been compromised, we're spinning out of control - you have to re-route power from the hangar bay to fix our orbit trajectory![fluff]

basically my idea is a new microbubble like sothis for super-long range hauling of low temperature diamonds back to the bubble. the station would be unique amongst current stations due to it's storyline damage and location, a damaged ringed station inside an ice asteroid field, which is stuck spinning at 200RPM

One of the first long range CGs was to create the Sothis Gold rare good. It was a lot of fun. IIRC The Code, fresh off the success of the Hutton Orbital CG where they provided a fun blockade (rather than the mostly ganky trash we get now), were in Sothis with Cobras.

Those CGs were a great source of camaraderie, I'd like to see that in the game again. Not sure it was the distance involved that make the difference though, the Alien sites have not produced the same sort of entertainment.

well if they made a station within 30ly it'd be like it was next-door
