FD, please restore Haulage mission rewards

FD, is there any chance of the haulage mission rewards being restored to their previous values? Previously a lot of these missions paid around 1 million credits and often a lot more, depending on the value of cargo to be delivered. That changed a while ago when the payouts got nerfed, even for Elite-ranked missions from factions in Boom State. Was this intentional?

That nerf is in stark contrast to the payouts for one-way passenger missions. Its no exaggeration to say that these can pay 3 or 4 times the amount compared to haulage missions.

I'm not asking for passenger mission payouts to be nerfed, just haulage mission payouts to be restored to their previous level, so that haulage jobs are again a viable choice for earning credits. At the moment, why would anyone do a haulage mission when they can Uber in a lot more credits?

You can carry a lot more haulage missions at once.

A single VIP passenger mission, however, eats a whole cabin, filled or not.

The cargo nerf was warranted in my opinion.

Without haulage the galactic economy crumbles so we should be rewarded. At the moment you get infinitely more for lumping 10 people one jump away than you do bringing much needed materials to an entire station, whose populace rely upon those materials to do their job.

This.

The payout for haulage missions is usually massively more than the worth of the cargo actually being carried. 100K for 6t of grain... When grain traded freely and out of contract will only net you a few thousand for the same amount, IF you buy and sell at the right places.

Disagree, as explained above.

Bear in mind, IRL airline pilots are paid way more for ferrying people, than an HGV driver is paid for hauling much needed fruit and vegetables.

Frontier. Please keep the haulage mission rewards as they are. They still pay (too) large amounts compared to the commodities being hauled. You might want to reduce some of the short-range passenger transport rewards, as these seem to outstrip the sightseeing and long-range rewards.

i am still looking for "haulage missions" that are worth the name.
something that pays well, but requires a lvl8 cargo bay of my T9.

i dislike beeing forced to do the mode switching game to get enough missions ROUGHLY in the same direction to fill 400tons of cargo space.

Ironically you can find them often at outposts.
Haulage missions requiring 180t up to 220t of cargospace. We all know that there is only 1 ship in only 1 outfit who is able to do these missions. A trade python stripped down to nothing else than a class 3 shield and cargoracks :|
You get a million for these, but for this capacity you can do twice the money with bulk trading.

Sorry pal, but there is none. It's just an assortment of personal wallets. There is no interdependency whatsoever between production, supply, demand and money flow in this game that I am aware of and that would warrant the title of 'galactic economy'. You get rewarded with cash for your personal shopping cart and that's it.

Well duh. This isn't X3. But we need some semblance of disbelief suspension otherwise we might as well say "it's only a game and it's all disappearing when they switch the servers off and eventually the sun will turn into a red giant and destroy anything we've ever created so what's the point? The Universe will entropy anyway".

So. You know, "pal", let's keep a sense of in-universe reality here. They need my goods or their station will die, so reward me for lugging your stuff.

Yeah this is why I switched to an Orca instead of my Type-7. Passenger missions can pay out over 3 million in just one trip.

Meanwhile it takes 5 or 6 trading trips to accomplish that.

I think the trading payout should be increased.

But you can also argue that, for those specific 6 units of Grain, it was very important for those to reach a specific client at the destination, and not end up on the regular commodities market. Missions and Trading are not the same thing.

Yes, and that client is paying a grossly excessive amount with 100k.

;)

Ditto passenger missions. A lot of ships can carry multiple cabins and are therefore capable of stacking passenger missions. Plus, you don't have to have multiple cabins to earn decent money.

Right now, at my home base, there's an non-VIP mission for 9 Business passengers paying 855K. That's a higher reward than all but one of the haulage missions available currently on my mission board (with me being Elite in Trading and Exploration, allied to 6 factions). I can take that non-VIP mission and earn another 4M+ easily from the passenger lounge, with some of the passengers willing to share cabins.

Exactly.

I had a mission last night that was a 29.4LY journey and it paid me 4.5 MILLION credits. The closest Trade related missions were around 280k and the rest of the missions paid around 100k-300k.

Passenger missions are just easy money. Its a tedious job, but its great if you wanna get out and travel the bubble and see all the sights this game has to offer.

Meanwhile trading missions are glorified fetch quests that not only pay less, they also require less interaction with the game itself. The Passenger missions give you FEEDBACK. They tell you if they are happy or not and then proceed to pay you LOTS of money for taking them to where they needed to be.

The trade missions amount to "Here is your stuff" then "Oh thanks for my stuff here is 3 pennies and a paperclip for your trouble"

Perhaps FD fixed this bug, which was active within a week prior to the most recent patch. This would have the effect of seemingly reducing rewards across the board, as lower-tonnage hauls would have been been paying out very inflated rewards.

Just a thought, not claiming an answer .

A lot of this nerf this nerf that exploit this exploit that mission nonsense could be solved if they just associated a mission requirement to specific items (be they bounties or cargo). Then stacking wont be a thing that can be exploited and we wouldn't have to worry about rewards getting nerfed to balance a broken mechanic.

Why that is being kept around is beyond me. Instead they seem content to play this unending game of reward balancing nonsense.
