[Module request] Floodlights for explorers

Since we have crash sites and POIs inside the dark regions of planets and moons, it would be excellent to have a module to search such areas. Since our scanners don't do the job, we need more light ...

Simple idea: Include a purchaseable Class 1 Floodlight module. If activated, it should send a really (and I mean really, really) bright and broad group of beams out from the top and front of the ship, illuminating an area even some kilometers away. Thus enabling Commanders to search dark or really shadowy areas more effectively. Up and front since searching often encourages flying upside down, even in Asps.

Besides, it would look simply awesome.

Find something nice - CHOOM! launch a flare that has 30 seconds of brightness. :)

You realise that objects are only rendered at a certain distance so it's not a question of not enough light to be able to see them? If this is an issue then the solution should be with the scanner, not lights and the MK1 eyeball.

Sure, yet when searching planets for structures I encountered low light as a problem even well inside rendering distance.
And since E: D relies heavily on the MKI eyeball, floodlights would fit in perfectly ;)

Turreted spotlights would be truly awesome ... as would be flares, yet those would have quite a short lifetime I fear.

@StiTch tweak the Gamma settings -- make them darkish.

I think that's a great idea. I've never been satisfied with the intensity of the current lights. If you can build a Framshift Drive, can't you build some headlights that illuminate more than the 10 feet directly in front of your ship?
