I've a Vive myself so not too sure about the details surrounding the CV1, but apparantly the "ED Profiler"-tool seems to be almost mandatory from what I gather.
I installed it myself yesterday and seems to work great.
The post quoted below had some good details that have helped me a lot. Obviously you can probably ignore the SteamVR stuff, but the info on the left made things very easy for me to set up as a starting point.

Steam ss at 1.5 in game ss at .65 hmd quality at 1 and AA off AO off most settings high or low is a good baseline. I ran this with a 980 ti and i7 4770k at 4.4 then upgraded to a 1080ti and can run run a bit higher with more overhead for settings.
