Free The Cobra MKIV

Similar to the idea above to make them available from Hutton orbital - slightly more serious, how about a Colonia version ? - only available out there - prob only with D rated modules - getting one back and upgrading it would make it a sort of "collectable" in it's own right - maybe the Cobra iv(b) ?

What about this then....

The ability for CMDRS that do own one to sell it to those that cant buy one.... Then the issue of exclusivity lies at the feet of the owners

I'll sell you mine! You cannot fly it of course but send me your requirements for the paintjob, ship name, ID, and outfitting and I'll send you a picture! Since you are never going to fly it anyway the results would be the same. :)

Suppose those people who weren't in on the exclusive free access were allowed to obtain it for a fee, like paintjobs etc., say for a tenner. Would that be sufficient to satisfy both camps?

That does seem to be the most obvious answer, but it could invite the same sort of situation that Star Citizen is in, where you have imaginary spaceships being passed around for silly money.

Wasn't it the case that we got acces to the CM4 due to the fact that we bought 'Horizons' as pre-purchase?

Obviously, I don't know what FDev's future plans are regarding their expansions. But D. Braven answered in one of the AMA events that, even if they went the "small DLC road", there would be a solution for loyal fans willing to purchase a whole "season" for a reduced price. I wouldn't mind, if the CM4 would be part of this special offer again, just as it was already.

Regarding the ship itself: I own it and I like it. However, I don't fly it any more due to the fact that the more expensive ships fill its role better.

The ship definitely would be an interesting alternative, if FDev would introduce a game mechanic that favors small ships.
For example only small landing pads on mega ships (is this the case already? I haven't visited one so far ... :( ).
Or small landing pads on the new space structures.
Or new tender ships (repair and re-arm) in conflict zones for small ships.
Or missions that requires the use of certain ships.
...
There are so many possibilities! :)

I'm sure there are loads of games I might play in the future that have things that were exclusive to pre-orders or missions that no longer exist or were simply time limited offers, that's just life, you can't have everything you want.

Exclusive content needs to remain exclusive or what carrot do FD have for next time? No one is going to get excited over an exclusive item that becomes available to everyone a while later.

You missed out, your collection will forever be incomplete.

It was sold as exclusive, I bought it as an exclusive item. It should stay that way so FD would stay true to their end of the deal.

Put it in the store, I'd be willing to pay $10 or so for it. It would be a good little money maker for FD and all the 'exclusive offer' types would still be able to proudly say they got it for free.

No, the "exclusive offer" types would like to proudly say they got it. As in "exclusive" explained above.

I have access to the Cobra IV and would certainly be willing to have it opened up for others who might not have it. Since it was an exclusive offering, I'd be ok with FD giving us a different exclusive item in exchange, just to keep with the spirit of exclusivity. Like fuzzy dice.

The Cobra IV isn't much of a ship to be honest. I sold mine a long time ago and never looked back.

I echo these sentiments, I bought the base game and horizons on the pre order bundle and that gave me access to the cobra mk4 in my early game, suffice to say that in ~2000hrs in game only five of them have been flown in a cobra mk4. Now fluffy dice in lieu of cobra mk4 - hell yeah!

Actually I think there should be some more ships anywaylike:

Alliance ships by zorgon.
About 2 more ships to compete with the python.
1or 2 large ships for people that don't want to rank grind.
Large trader.
About 8 others should do it in all I think.
Please no more passenger ships.

I own it and I agree.

I see no value in keeping prvileges, and we're talking about a ship, not a cosmetic.
It should have been released for free when ps4 version dropped.

Time to move on from horizons' release and just let others have their fun too, wether or not we like the ship. Letting new players get the cobra IV has absolutely 0 impact on my game nor on my purse. And I don't live by the feeling I should be exclusively rewarded for having been there before. This is far beyond my understanding really.

Frontier won't and shouldn't release Cobra mk IV available for purchases of real money or achievable in game, they said it would be exclusive and it should stay as one.

The thing is that frontier never should have made cobra mk iv exclusive ship. There should be no exclusive items at all in any games, especially ships. I accept that there is exclusive cosmetic items but i would prefer if those weren't exclusive. I am doing civil service in army and i have holiday every 2 weeks. I miss out a lot of stuff because I have no free time the week something is available. But i understand how exclusive cosmetic stuff gets people buy it more than if it weren't exclusive.
