I'm Bored

I love the game, but I feel like I keep losing excitement and things to keep my interest. I mostly do bounty hunting, but I've also done exploration, trading, passenger missions, and community goals. It feels very 'meh' after a while. I need a goal that's more exciting than "make a lot of money and get rich". Thoughts and ideas?

Time for a break?

Most of us who have been playing this game for years tend to occasionally hang it up and go play something else. Any game is going to start to feel "samey" after playing it every day or weeks or months at a stretch. ;)

BGS. It's the end game for most of us. It takes the game out of the farming mode and into tactical mode. Once you get the hang of it and become a BGS expert, it morphs into a strategic game. There's more depth under the hood than is apparent on the surface.

We have a decent BGS team, but if I were to look for a more in-depth group to join, I'd PM Jane Turner. She's the undisputed Guru of Gurus on the BGS.

<edit> There's also an offensive BGS team, but it's by invitation only. Pretty much exclusively experts in BGS operations. Spend some time with the other groups and they might notice you. </edit>

the game is only that, money rank and ship and a truck of roleplay and non mystery... for frontier and small portion of the community it is ok... if you not like the idea like me, stop to play and sitdown: soon E : D will be erased, the game is already in maintenance mode... soon will be the death state.

What a load of unsubstantiated . If you hate the game, WHY THE HECK do you feel the need to pollute the forum? Go play whatever you enjoy, if there is anything.

Welcome to my ignore list.

And BGS stands for Back Ground Simulation? Because you are using that abbreviation without any reference for what it stand for.

That is solid advice. I enjoy the game, but every now and again, I need to take a break of a few months and play something entirely different (Witcher 3, Original Sin etc) - this helps me to keep the experience fresh.

If nothing works, I'd say : go play something else !

Seriously : I just took a 6 months break and it does wonders. Happy to come back and all. In the meanwhile, I played GTA 5, Watch Dogs 2 and DE : Human Revolution. Loved them.

Now I'm back.

Yeah. If he's interested enough, google would be his friend. I don't mind showing a path, but I'm not holding anyone's hand unless they're wiling to help themselves.

Sounds to me like it's time for a break.
There's no shame in it, I do it all the time. It's actually incredibly healthy. :)

I find playing another game often reminds me of how good ED actually is. It's easy to forget if you play nothing else.

If you don't fancy a break, then just find something daft to do, like engineer a ship to be as fast as possible, then go around trolling the trolls at CGs, by interdicting them and running away repeatedly. :D or just mess about in canyons with it.
Or go an find a newbie to help out. Teach them whatever they need to know.

Or join PowerPlay, and then play Pokémon with the PowerPlay modules. Lol

This is very true. Here is a post I made in another thread about the same thing:

The truth: ED is the only game I play and I don't get board with it.

Now the whole truth: I work 100 miles away from my family, so spend the week living near work. That's where I have my gaming PC as well, so play 2 or 3 hours a night 3 or 4 days a week. At the weekends I spend time with the family. Catching up on chores, horse riding, fishing, looking after the livestock (horse, dogs and some chickens), and generally having a good time in RL. The point being, if you spend all your free time playing ED, (or doing any one thing) you will get board eventually no matter how good it is. Make room for other hobbies or other games in your life and you will keep enjoying all of them.

Still have the time and desire to come to the forums though. Posting for the "good of the game" of course.

Anyway for the OP I have found that a career restart and total change-up in what you are/have been doing always helped me in the past.

If you are getting bored dont blame the game necessarily - you may just have overdosed on it's goodness for too long - I've taken breaks from ED on occasion ranging from a few months at a time to more than a year - eventually you will come back and go 'Wooo, the sound is amazing, Wow look at dem graphics, PEWpewPewPew' and it'll be glorious all over again, at least for a good while, until it isn't and you take a break again - rinse and repeat.

I have a few fav games I come back to in cycles year after year - you splurge and indulge and have a whale of a time until it gets too much and you just take a break - you'll know when you want to come back, will feel like a hunger pang and then you can enjoy it all over again (especially if they keep adding QoL improvements - after my last long hiatus they added station traffic control voices, and I was just WoooOOOoooOOOooo when I logged back in and heard all that for the 1st time) :D

I've been playing a lot of GTA Online myself and having a good 'ol time. :D -- I still need to do my weekly PowerPlay fortification runs in ED, but other than that, I am at the "I need a break" stage myself at the moment. :)

I just dipped back into PP.
Tried it on launch, but its much better now.
Im good for the coming 16 weeks ;)

Else take a break and wait for the 2.4 update.
Elite is not a game, its a lifestyle.

Actually, that's a damn good idea. Have some rep.

I'd forgotten that it was another CMDR that got me on the right road about two years ago - I was trucking tiny amounts of cargo in my sidewinder for very little profit, hadn't even done any missions yet since they looked scary.

Then someone pulled me out of supercruise one day. I was ultra suspicious initially - I thought it was a trap of some kind, but the guy gave me a canister of something, can't remember what it was, but it was worth quite a bit when I sold it.

He was quite patient. I didn't know about the cargo scoop so it took a while to figure out how to collect the stuff he gave me.

But it made the difference - I was able to upgrade enough to increase my profit a bit, and soon I had a Hauler. The rest, as they say, is history :)

I am very happy with many games... I have close and put away E : D from months, but I am here because... ehi man... one moment... I have an idea: I can stay here if I want. XD

Yes you can, but WHY do you want to? If you feel that spending time on a forum for a game you haven't played for months - and crucially - that you don't plan to ever play again is a good use of you time, then you have serious problems. Life is short, why would you spend even a moment of it doing that?
