Bit of a sombre idea. Sort of. Lol
I'll get to the point.
How would you feel, if on death, you ejected in to an escape pod, and floated about?
I had some ideas about how to make this rewarding.
Firstly and most importantly, you can always skip this bit. If you die, you can just choose to resawn in your last dock. Just as you do now.
But if you choose to wait. Then what?
Well, your pod becomes a POI visible from up to 1000ls, or a targetable POi on a surface, and always in Open, and broadcast on the Galmap for anyone with that filter active to see.
Rescue time!
Players can then rush to save you, or just blow you up. Lol it's a risk you'd have to take. (You already died once anyway! Lol)
All they have to do is scoop you up, and return you to any dock to respawn.
All while being fully able to skip this entirely. If you don't like what your 'rescuer' is doing, you can just respawn.
The pros for awaiting rescue is firstly, immersion. If you like that sort of thing.
Secondly, you can also *possibly* keep some, or all, of your exploration data, bounty vouchers, etc, etc, which you'd ordinarily lose on death. You can also respawn in whatever station they drop you off in, in your last ship too. Assuming it fits on the pad. Lol
As a reward for patience? I dunno.
I'm not entirely sure how to handle the logistics of it all. Logging off while in someone's cargo bay would probably abort the rescue attempt, and when you log in, you'd be back in space in a pod again or something. I dunno.
No idea what type of view you would have either. Probably 1st person in the pod, with the ability to use the camera. And be in the camera mode in the rescuers ship, or join as crew if a slot is available.
And once again, you can just skip the process entirely.
Just a random early morning idea.
Thoughts?
