We are the Independent Defence Agency, a group dedicated to making human occupied space a safe, fun and adventerous enviroment. We actively patrol and defend community goals and areas which we deem to be "High risk" or highly dangerous to commanders, defending the civalised and innocent against piracy, unwaranated aggression and alien invasion.

If we receive a report about certain commanders, groups, or systems, we will investigate and dispatch units as soon as possible, especially to resource sites, stations, community goals and incidents involving aliens.

The idea behind the IDA is a good one imho :)

You're welcome to apply now, one of the new squadrons might be meeting potential new candidates (in-game) in a few days, so if you complete the form you're welcome to come along.

I don't remember your name personally, but was it at a CG? It's fair to say that, although we have a lot of great PvPers, there are a few beginners in the group as well. :) I'm not too good at PvP myself, compared to the veterans of E: D . [big grin]

Good luck! There sure are a lot of "threats" out there! Hope I'm not a threat (spoiler: I'm not). Seriously though, it's cool to see in-game groups spring up to make up for areas where the game is lacking. Could make for some good fun for the griefers and gankers as well! I've tried playing white knight at some of the CGs and it can be downright... dangerous!

Thanks :) And yeah, there are always threats - the griefers, gankers, etc, will keep us busy! Going against them can be tricky, they often fly well armed, in wings and most of them are usually pretty decent at PvP.

It's an ironic name, I know :D, but there's no trap here. Lot's of work went into that website, and we really do have over 105 members who are dedicated to fighting for innocent commanders, whether that is against pirates, mercenaries, superpowers or even thargoids.

We were originally called the MoPD, but changed that name quite a while ago.

Just out of curiosity, do you have a plan to deal with the inevitable false reports made against legitimate players by griefers?

Thanks :) And yep, it's all carefully thought out, although I won't post the whole procedure publicly here. ;) But basically, we have a database of known gankers/griefers, and will generally deploy and investigate a report before taking action.

If a report comes in, for example "CMDR Trololol murdered me in Sol" (but hopefully more in-depth), we would try to deploy to that system and if we come across that commander, we would speak to them and see what happens. If the report comes in about a specific location, we would probably stick around there for a while, patrolling and so on.

The report, as well as both parties involved will also be added to the database for future reference, and the CMDRs involved will both be searched/queried in our database to see what comes up - and I doubt people will buy entirely new game accounts just to troll us.

Why against pirates too? Nothing wrong with piracy, in-game. Well, at least nothing that shouldn't be dealt with in-game solutions.

This is an in-game solution, if I understand you correctly? :) Well, in-game mixed with the community of course. It's lore based partially. It's true that we do have a database and a website outside of the game, but that's just to keep track of what happens in-game.

There isn't anything official about this, so when I say "Report", I mean we receive a report from another CMDR through our website, and we respond to it in-game, using our ships.

But you are right, player piracy is only a small part of it.

Only a few. There are a few people who wing up on consoles, but the group is only really active on PC.

Interesting idea. Since it will more than likely be new comers getting attacked you should probably tell them to look at their logs for details on their destruction:
C:\Users\"USER"\Saved Games\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous

i know i have 5 names in my logs when i was destroyed, but that was a couple of months ago now.
