Lifetime pass payback time

... the cost of the LEP pass (£120) ..........

Actually in 2015 the cost was £130 but with a whopping £10 discount for existing owners of Elite Dangerous.

Since you didn't buy one, why are you bothered?

Those of us who did, (well OK, I) did so because we wanted to show support and because we fully expect to get more than 4 expansions.

Very pleased that you are not upset right now - have a lovely Sunday.

I'll answer your question when I begin flying in a gas giants atmosphere.

That *IS* a weird one. They showed the prototype cloud tech to get people interested in backing the game, and 3 years later ... nada. The entire thing was "Hmmm, the initial Kickstarter pitch met with skepticism? .... Quick! Find any code we have in the office to make a video with!" :D

future plan:

-release the thargoids
-push all friendly youtubers (like obsidian) to talk of how nice the frontier is and how much mysteries are in game
-sell tons of ingame extra
-before all realize that the thargoids are only another npc to shoot and the obsidian talk only about imagined things that do not exist in the game, take all money and say GG
-end of elite
-congratulation message from braben:

"You've all been fantastic and fun, thank you for having done all this, but we've come to the end, I love you but I love your money more. goodbye"

-server closed

I think that the things will go in that way soon.

You forgot something:
- distribute tinfoil

For a little bit more steam at this topic:

So the pricing was very "dynamic" over the time .... The 50$ offer in 2014 had not included Beta-access. But later this was forgotten by the servers ...
That would be the only thing i had to complain. The very different pricing. But it is not my company ...

If I only had a quid each time I saw somene posting that kind of stuff on the forums, I could now buy Roberts Space Industries and make Star Citizen to be finally released, so that all the whiners can go play that...

If you truly think that, then maybe you'll want to cut your and our losses and stop investing time and money in the game?

Apart from making the game free to play or David Braben forcing Obsidian Ant to advertise their game against his will, here are a few other possibilities why our LEP becomes useless:

- an earthquake destroying their offices and killing everyone (including the server hamster)
- a giant asteroid destroying all life on earth
- some lunatic fan who is still annoyed about the removal of offline mode and/or the python nerf assassinates David Braben
- David Braben flees to his hidden moon base (which he build with all the money he got from the LEP) after he reads the forums and decides he doesn't want to live in this world anymore

Jesus, the amount of tin foil needed by some posters on this thread... ED is likely to stay around for a good while yet and I am looking forward to new content. If anything, they over-delivered on Horizons.

Did I get my money's worth? More than that. GBP 35 on Kickstarter and another USD 50 for the pre-release purchase of the LEP. They even threw in beta access later, which was not part of the original deal.

oh yeah, I have take a screenshoot... we will see how it will go.

Good, looking forward to your apology. Almost forgot, not going to happen since you can't post anything that isn't nonsense.

already invested 150, and I regret it since the cancelled localization in my native language made by frontier.

it is much real... with all the millions that he make selling us lies.

Thing is, most of these lies only exist in your weird imagination.

that "kind of stuff" are real man like all the problem of the game:

- no game machanics
- no ingame tools
- elite dangerous sell itself as a MMO... elite dangerous is not an MMO.
- to much lies from Braben and the lead designer: gold rush? deployable mining structure? different asteroid were you can spot different mineral aka -> deep mining mechanics? different type of srv for do stuff on planet? volcano? interactive system map? exploration and deep scan mechanics? bookmarks on planets?

Eh? What lies? You are talking about features that haven't been implemented yet. No-one lied, and that remains the case until the servers are closed, and these features hadn't materialised...

Did you get burned on another space game, and are trying to take it out on this one?!

burned? why all the peoples try to start a flame about NMS or SC? I have all games... and what? what is the link with the ED failures?
implement yet? lol man you are so positive.

You are correct. There is no link, because ED is quite a successful game actually :)

Just because you say it's not, doesn't bend the reality and make it so. Luckily for us.

Sorry, as a game is not successful. FD as a company? maybe.

At this development rate AND QUALITY I don't know how many decades are needed to call the Liftime Expansion worthwhile.

Kubicide I can't find link to that Michael Brooks comment about the Lifetime Expansion Pass it was over 3 years ago. I do recall reading that comment though, but I can't locate it so take it for what it is worth. I still maintain it is true but without proof then take it for what it is, me saying it only.

As for Urud7 it sounds like you forget that Elite Dangerous is still a game being made in progress, it isn't finished yet. Anyone who bought into alpha or beta knew the game would not be complete on release, that there would be expansions coming out you pay for or buy a lifetime pass. Those that bought the game on release knew what was in it, if they knew about the game before then knowing about future 'seasons' (ie: content) would be coming later and paid for. Those who knew nothing of the development or of what was promised could read game reviews and watch game play on YouTube, no where was it stated about content not in the game but you heard about (the game came as it not as it will be). Any person who plays game I would wager heard of additional content that can be bought for games they own. This has gone on for decades also. Example the original Privateer game, buy the game, and wanted the voice pack it was an additional charge. After the game was out Righteous Fire was made and released (the first add on pack I ever bought) you needed the original Privateer to play this. Just pointing out in case someone wants to say some may never of heard of buying additional software for a game and it should all be included will know this has gone on for decades (40 years or more).

I totally do not get this thread. I read through the first nine pages and then lost the will to live. Whattf are people complaining about? Obviously it would be somewhat rubbish if FD abandoned the Seasons model and then made LEP holder pay for subsequent upgrades, but I see no evidence that FD are quite as bonkers as that.

I paid £120 for my LEP. I figured FD would be around for long enough to make it worth while, but I took a chance. Not disappointed so far, but perhaps being in the software industry myself my expectations were more aligned with reality than some here.

It would be nice to be able to get another account within the context of the LEP, but I'm not going to complain that that's not an option :)
