Able to join Mobius PVE but can't join open? What gives?

Title says it all. I can connect over and over to Mobius private group but can't join open. Yes internet is fine, yes all else is working well with my awesome high end comp...i can join multiplayer mobius but not open. I just don' t get it. I used to only play open but have used this same account for only Mobius last few months. Pardon spelling on my tablet btw.

Any idea why not? I'm ready to join open and be with some peeps.

Have you made at least 1 jump since starting the game? Theres spawn protection until you hyperspace for the first time.

Aside from that fire support a ticket once you've done a quick check of the e-mail your account is registered to (inc spam folder).

If they have a reason and proof, not all that much is known about the process as people who get banned are few and far between and often don't talk about it.

We know you get an e-mail or several if shadowbanned and we know it prevents you meeting other players and also your effects on the game markets etc won't transfer to the live server. However, I would expect if shadowbanned the user wouldn't be able to access anything except Solo or they could access anything including open but the networking would break their connection to other players. This case above is neither of those.



Edit: Comeon guys lets not jump to the shadowban conclusion so quickly, you all look like you are dying to find someone who's been banned! Theres a whole number of things that it could be and to be honest a quick scan at post history and google search I don't think the OP quite fits the profile for someone who hacks/cheats if I can be so bold...

You were probably doing something to break the game, hence why you cannot join Open. Frontier has banned players from Open for an extensive amount of time. Such offenses include Exploiting, Hacking, or breaking the game in any way that goes against FD's Terms of Service. If you did not do anything illegal, then it's okay! You can send a Ticket to Frontier Support of your issue which they will get back to you in roughly under 24 hours. :)

I think it's pretty safe to rule out a shadowban. If the OP had received an email describing a ban, they wouldn't be here trying to figure out what was wrong.

Asking the only question that matters.

Everybody seems to be jumping on the shadowban discussion and we don't even know what happens when the OP tries to join Open.

OP, is your Open option greyed-out?
Can you click on the option, but you receive a warning message? (something like Sorry, you can't join open)
Do you go past the loading screen but it then disconnects?
You get to actually join open but can't meet anyone?
etc. etc.

Agreed; though some e-mails do get flagged as spam and a lot of people don't bother ever checking their spam box.

Was that Mobius USA or the European Mobius?? Not an answer to your question on Open, sorry, but just interested if European Mobius is open for new joiners again, as they have been full up for months now!

Lol these replies are hilarious and awesome. Um, so, no i did not do anything to break the game.

When I try and click to join open it shows my spaceship in orange spinning around and then it just says after what seems to be eons, maybe 3 min or so, "cannot conect to (forget if can't connect to open or connect to server)"

I am just sitting in Farseer base and had been on Mobius PVE (dont recall or know if thats usa or europe or what, just that its Mobius pve). Do I need to jump out of Deciat into a new system and then try to connect?

Is this common? I've never even heard of a shadowban and don't have any email or anything like that from FD.

Thoughts?

Mobius PVE is USA. It sounds like you are just having a connection problem in general, not specific to Open.

Still, that doesn't really jive with your repeatedly connecting to Mobius, but not Open symptom. Perhaps Open connects to a different server than Player Groups and you can't connect to that specific server.

If it continues, you should contact Support. Perhaps you got shadow banned by mistake.

Shadowban is rare, people here just like drama. If you have no e-mails from FD you are not shadowbanned, simple as :)

Sounds more like a networking issue to me or a rather serious bug.


Try: Validating game files
Check router settings compared to the "Elite networking help" posts https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/238233-VERY-basic-guide-for-ED-networking
Go as advanced as you feel you can without breaking things, keep copies of changed files etc usual warnings.


If that doesn't work then look at eliminating options:

Basically there are 3 factors:
Network
PC
Game account


If possible try to login to your account on a different PC and/or network (login on your phone 4G or something if you can).
Or login to a different account on your system/network if you can.

If you can eliminate 1 or 2 of the above factors you can start identifying the issue better.


Give it a go with changing systems, try loading in non-horizons etc.



If it isn't fixed by one of the above then definitely contact support, they should hopefully be able to help.
