Rift Face

Has anyone come across, or devised, a different set of padding for the Rift headset?
After even just a short time I have huge great weals on my face from the sponge padding. It's not a good look, and my husband laughs at me....

I have a pair of the vr covers, and they help a fair bit but it's not completely absent.
Without them I get brand marks on my face that stays for hours.

My mother used to warn me that if I made funny (my opinion) / ugly (according to her) faces for too long and too often, they'd become permanent. Not sure if the same is true for Rift Faces but I'd be careful :D

In my case it's a Vive not a Rift (stop throwing things at me!), but I had similar problems with looking like an oddly-colored raccoon after long play sessions. I ordered a different (better) set of covers and it's made a world of difference. If you're having troubles with "Rift Face" or comfort in general I highly recommend looking into getting some, I expect it will help similarly for the Rift.

Cheers!

That's only if the wind changes whilst you're pulling said face...

You may also have the straps too tight. They only need to be just tight enough to keep the thing on your head rather than a latex mask approach. I had mine set way too tight for a while which gave me comedy Rift Face, plus a headache. With everything looser I now only get Rift Hair - which sort of looks like an unkempt Man-Bun.

Try that before you spend cash on alt covers.

So the VR community should start a thread of not "Show us your Commander" But "Show us your VR Face after a session"

Would you believe it the Daily Mail (Mail online) actually calls it 'Occulus Face' :) :) :)

It's only shameful if you are ashamed.

I can see why they would call it oculus face, because it's the CV1 that does this.
I wear the rift as shipped for five minutes and I am branded with their logo for practically rest of the day.

The vive I can wear for hours, even though it is heavier without any such aftermarks, except maybe a little fluster, but that's no more than if I had walked from the bus stop or something.
And is gone just as quick.

The first in-store escalators at Harrods (1898) caused a similar rush of excitement. Wobbly customers were offered a tot of Brandy at the end of the journey!

That said, 'The Climb' in VR is pretty intense...

That's a good point. It's easy to over-tighten the straps without realizing it, since it's so springy. I did this for a while, and loosened it up later, and it was much more comfortable and the marks were less significant.

Personally, I'm going to try to the VR Cover velour pads and see if it helps with the comfort anyway. Every little bit helps.

Seriously, if you are getting rift face, its too tight, loosen the straps, it won't come off. I get a little bit after a long session but that is only because I can't make it any looser because my head is slightly too big for the rift. Btw that vrcover place is a rip off, I got some and I tried to return them immediately because the material was so damn scratchy, it took me threatening to call my credit card company before they would respond. Buyer beware.

Got some of the VR Cover things. Better comfort however I managed to scratch the left lens when taking the face plate out by knocking it back on to the lens. I don't think it is visible when I have the rift on but still... :-(

Be careful if you do get the VR cover.

Been meaning to try the cover things, I get Rift face under my eyes after a few hours, the mrs thinks it's hilarious, especially if we have to go out after taking it off
