You V The Weekend: Post after action report time and Bran's personal challenge begins!

Welcome CMDR's,

I trust you all had a good and fruitful weekend?

If so, or not, then you are now required to give us your post after action report thing. Please give details on what you planned on getting done and what you actually managed to do... These things are not always the same.

Why are you so nosy Bran? Well I make these threads not just so you can tell us what you are doing but also to inspire others who may of hit a brick wall or be looking for something different to do.

This is your chance to inspire others!

Traders – Did you make a profit, if so what on and how much?
Pirates – Were the pickings fat or slim this weekend?
Bounty Hunters – Did you find your mark and claim the prize?
Community Goal's – Did you take part, if so how much did you contribute?
Explorer's – Find anything interesting this weekend?
PvP'er's – How was the weekends action? Any interesting fights you want to tell us about?
Overlords – Did you keep order in your system or are the rabble rising up against you?

If you don't see yourself in one of the above brackets then tell us what it is you did!

Later on this week I will be once again posting one of the most controversial questions I have ever asked on these forums – it's been several months and with a whole batch of new players it is once again time to ask the most probing of all questions. Make sure to visit the forums on or after Wednesday afternoon to cast your vote (Not a real one – only a mod can do those and of course there is no way Tj would ever let me be one of those as he is to scared he'd get banned along with Maynard and of course Phillips... Not sure who I'd make into the Tea lady/boy.

Now for something completely different which I hope you will take the time to read.

During my life I have been lucky to witness our ever changing attitude towards others with abilities that differ from our own. I see the Para and Invictus games making great strides to inspire disabled people lead a full and active life. I've seen life's transformed for others with physical/mental disabilities through the use of technology.

As I've grown older I have felt the increasing desire to give something back tot those in a different circumstance than myself and so I support Special Effect in their goal to help as many disabled people as possible get both fun and stimulation from video games as they are such a great way of engaging a person and their mind. This is also the charity which Frontier do a lot of work supporting too, our very own Galactic Intern is an ambassador for the charity and of course he hosts the 24 hours live stream each Christmas to promote them and raise funds. When I met Ed I was sure to thank him for the work he does as should we all.

Some of you will remember the little event I did during Comic Relief which I really enjoyed and it managed to raise a little money too so win win all round... Now it's time to raise the stakes... A Lot! As a 50 year old man who has never been to a gym since leaving school I don't consider myself very fit but also not overweight – I'll keep telling myself this – Therefore I have taken the bold decision to begin training for a half marathon... Why only half Bran? Well I want to do a full but the advise I have been given is to aim for the half first and then go on to a full length one later... If I survive is what I think he meant...

Now the only reason I am doing this is to get you lot to sponsor me or at least be inspired to make a donation. I'll keep the forums updated with how my training is going in my normal Weekend threads so you can all have some fun at my expense. My hope is that early next year I will be ready for one of the many events held around the UK. I would appreciate it if one of the mods could ensure Ed gets to see this, I know he's busy but he's also a great promoter of all things Special Effect!

Thanks for taking the time to read the above, now back tot he normal 'Stuff'

Oh, wait, that's all there is for now....

You all know the drill by now, tell us what you did this weekend and how crazy you think my plan is but of course, keep it clean and have fun... It is Fri... Monday after all!

Explorer's – Find anything interesting this weekend?

Yesterday I returned form a short expedition to Hawking's Gap. Found quite a few ammonia worlds and two ELW, two of them as a twin "system".
No aliens and no derelict ships where found in this expedition.
(We all know that aliens don't exists, those Thargoid encounters are faked videos from CMDRs who are desperately seeking attention, noting to worry about. I've never seen any aliens and I spend hours searching for them.)

Back in my home system I spend to much time selling scan data and didn't notice my friendly neighbor contacting me over coms. So, if you are reading this "Hello, neighbor".

Then I noticed that I had forgotten how to fight in a DBX - 3 evil criminal NPCs managed to not get killed by me (but they got killed by the police, so justice was served and the cosmic balance maintained).
Took a while until I managed to get the DBX to do the things I wanted her to do. Now I'm confident that a trip to the HazRES won't be a disaster.

In short, I had a lot of fun.

Good luck Bran for your mission to run a half marathon and hopefully you raise as much money as you want to for a good cause. o7

I spent the weekend farming dirty drive mats as part of my ongoing effort to improve my Cutter. I managed to get a very nice speed increase, so I'm definitely calling the weekend a resounding success :)

The very best of luck for your training. It's a great cause, and I can't applaud you enough for making such a personal effort to support it.

The recent discoveries by Canonn has been a revelation to me. After deciphering all those codes and wierd audio, I think I have been activated.

My "El Castrator" Python has been blessed with Raider paintjob and Green engine and Yellow weapon so I can... blend.

1st task: Engineered Beam Laser.

Ongoing task: Infiltrate Twitter for propaganda.

Successful task: Made new CMDR think that @Frontier_Help are a bunch of Thargoid spy.

Goal: Chaos

Be careful Bran - that 50 mark does strange things to your mind; like all things I should've done when I was younger so I will do them now I am no longer in my 20's. Weird :)

PS: I made a profit this weekend, and will divert some to your cause once we have the details - GL

I did loads of jobs around the house (3), watched F1. Played Elite... went to HIP 14909 to impose my will upon the Thargoids. Totally failed to get any kind of reaction from inside the base, which failed to give me a UL, failed to show which slots to dump my UP and UA into, and otherwise failed to give me any kind of positive reaction whatsoever. So I went outside the base and killed all the scavenger drones I could find instead.

Good luck with the training, Bran. Few years ago, I got back into cycling after 20 years of zero exercise and smoking, and it did me the world of good, until I caught developed sinusitis (after an awful trip to Germany) which took 18 months to clear, and I'm about to restart training again. There is a moral there somewhere, but I've no idea what is. Other than don't smoke, obviously. Or go to Germany.

Bran we thought we lost you?!?!

Were you taken away by the goids to be our ambassador?

Me? An ambassador for the Human Race... Oh boy, that would be disastrous for all of us and them! :D

Real life had to be the priority on Friday but fear not, normal (If you can call it that) service has been resumed. My eternal conflict with the mods continues!

My ongoing effort is to survey a bunch of systems around 4 Kylies out of the bubble. I'm on my third week doing that. Not sure how long it will take but it will be done when it's done. Then I'll resume course for the outer rim where the stars are sparse and the black is deep. :D

Busy weekend...non-ED wise unfortunately.
Spent about 3 hours Friday and Saturday looking for a new rank grinding spot. Didn't find one but made a mint trading...err...unmentionables at 4500 cr/t profit.

Spent two hours Sunday going back to my old rank grinding spot and ran some missions and a good paying passenger run.
More at this spot for the money as I have quite given up on watching my rank %. Something about a watched pot never...

Also researched (read up on - research sounds very ostentatious!) about the multi-hour alien scanning multiple object thing. Geesh...forgot the name already.

And I also was reminded (again for the 200th time) of how great a ship the AspX is. Every single time I rebuy this ship (lots of times) and then fly it I try to remember what the hell I was thinking to sell it in the first place. Think I have finally learned my lesson.

Trading basic medicine, buying cheap, selling at grossly inflated prices to the sick and dying.

Being a plague doctor is fun.

ticked some supergiants off my list with my main account, and are a few kylies out now. the first undiscovered system of this trip below 400 ly from sol! cave nebula was most impressive, as was vv cephei ... while CE camelopardalis was of the boring kind of supergiants.

sunday late i spend some time on my tertiary account, which i intend to run as a pacifist career (my secondary is for non-engineered pew-pew). run some trade missions to upgrade the sidey, till i was able to fit a cobra ... set off to the pleiades, lazingly scanning on the way, and made scout rank. very impressed how great a d-class/b-class cobra mkiii is actually!

Scanning the systems where the alien sites have been found and selling the exploration data at different systems to get allied with a number of factions.

Bran, good luck with your training, and I look forward to sponsoring you in the future. Just take care and don't overdo it.

My plan for the weekend:

- have a go at the Elite Racers Okinura station sprint challenge
- do a little Fed ranking at Niu Hsing (I'm so close to that Corvette now that I can practically smell it)
- get my DSS engineered for faster scanning

What I actually achieved:

- visited Blenheim Palace (twice) and then watched "A Little Chaos" (with Alan Rickman and Kate Winslet)
- managed to put up a roller blind despite a concrete lintel's best attempts at preventing me from drilling any suitable holes
- managed to get Tomb Raider 3 working on my son's computer again
- purchased and fitted a new smoke alarm
- did my laundry
- explored Tokyo in VR

Been a very confuzzling weekend...after getting back to colonia, I sat and just looked at the screen fer an hour thinking I may never play this game again. Really.

Ive stopped playing the way I used to, no more ironman mode in solo, now I play on open only and goals/motivations have changed. The forums actually made me miserable...Id lost my mojo cos all I could see was beige. Even when it wasnt there, I was imagining it was and that has, fer now, sapped my motivation to keep trying fer the core.

So Im exploring in a very different way right now, exploring colonia, or rather the surrounding area in more detail. Last time I was here, jaques was the only station and things have changed somewhat...its now a mini bubble albeit in much nicer surroundings. So Im hanging around colonia while I decide what to do next...and oh boy yer gonna love this.

At some point, Ive decided to go back to the bubble where Im gonna rngeer the bollox outta my ships. Thats funny because Ive ignored the rngeer feature since it launched as I despise its RNG nature...however...I found meself running into game breaking, fer me, limitations that rngeers could alleviate. All the mission stacking Im doing right now achieves multipple goals...explore colonia, build up rep and resources especially rngeer materials which Im now gathering up. Ye I know I could just sell data to build rep faster but this is a good way of exploring the new stations, and Im not in any urgent need, just messing around.

New end goals. I know ED "aint that sorta game", but I need endgoals or I simply cease to function properly. Im in the mood to grind and when I say grind, I mean serious mind numbing grind that others quit the game because of. Me? Im weird cos I like it...I like it because I chose it, not the game. I technically dont need it, but I want it...its that feeling of wanting something that was missing before and I want the whole SLF experience. Keelback was just a teasing taste, I want more...so Im aiming at an exploration build T9 in the short term (3 to 4 months). Now when I say short term, I meant back in the bubble and engineered to the bollox specifically to do one thing and one thing only...survive whilst being almost completely unarmed in open.

Sounds weird and unnatural granted, but I always do things my way, not the way others want me to be. Im weird and eccentric in real life too, so Im used to being different. I dont want a conda...ye I know it would be way better in every possible way than a T9, but I just want the T9 because its different, individual, non conformist whatever ye wanna call it.

Hopefully by the time its ready, FD will have fixed the beigeification...because as it stands, I have no motivation left to explore with, but I love the game too much to just walk away.

Ive lost me forum mojo too...follow maybe 2 or 3 threads only now and utterly ignore most of the rest, but I like Brans bit...I like regular routines, makes me feel calmer.

Glad yer enjoying the charity work...big 50...I cant say much, Im 46 in october so not that far behind ye so keep er lit cmdr ^

Change is good as is challenging yourself to do something different. Good luck to you in your new goals, looking forward already to hearing your future tales!

As for routine, normal service is being resumed this week...

Monday's will normally be Forum Madness.
Wednesday - The most important questions will be getting asked. Questions that Frontier needs to know the answers to... :D
Friday - Well what would the weekend be without without a bit of fun and inspiring others to try new 'Stuff'!

The other days are for the mods to get some sleep.

it was that, or blaming Tj.

Mods pff...did it once years ago too much hassle and stress and Im way too rebellious to toe the line as it were. They have more patience than I have, they deserve to sleep because they gotta deal with the likes of me.

Keep up the charity work really though...inspiring stuff. Im back in the chair since friday after some bad news...Im in relapse again fer the second time this year so far and oh boy the pain...pain helps one focus better though. I know all about pain...literally the story of my life. I watch the invictus games with a mixture of pride and jealousy...I was a semi pro mountain biker fer almost a quarter of a century before I became one the folks yer doing charity work for. How funny is that?

I need gaming right now...Im sure ye will understand why ^

13A spent many quiet hours heading away from the bubble in the quest to become Elite.

24B spent some quiet hours mining stuff in the hopes of being introduced to Selene Jean.

Good luck with the training. 50 eh? Oh for the heady days of being a youngster again :D
