Elite: Carebear

With all the recent threads about PvP, PvE, Open, Solo, Blocking, CLogging and Logout timers fighting on forums seems to be a thing again. As usual, everyone who prefers to not get randomly shot at for no apparent reason is getting called carebear, coward and special snowflake. There are also remarks about hiding in solo, the game being called Elite: Dangerous, a cut throat galaxy, people fearing the risk and playing as advertised. I think I have named them all.

The goal always seems to be to get traders in Open and to have them stay and fight when they get attacked. Or to discredit someone's argument. But if the best argument is that people should fear no risk, that they should be no carebears, why is it that you always chose to attack the weakest? You only fight if you have nothing to fear, isn't that exactly what you accuse them of?

I have no problem with people playing pirates and traders or cops and robbers. But if you want to insult others for their preferred playstyle you should look who is talking, carebear ;)

These days I've found raising my forum rank to be more engaging and fun gameplay than grinding it ingame,

but one similarity between the forums and game, is that... when most don't get their way using the rule set given (game mechanics ingame / Logical debate on forum) they result to calling me a "kid" or some other juvenile term :)

Choose one. They cant co-exist and never will.

That pretty much sums it up...which is sorta sad ^

Snowflake comes from the (probably erroneous) fact that no two snowflakes are alike. It means someone who believes themselves special and unique and that their opinion should be listened to.

i think it comes from snowflakes being extremely delicate fragile, and it means someone that doesn't tolerate any frustration or inconvenience. of course this connects to the notion of being 'special' as in entitled to more consideration than the rest of the mob.

You are just making assumptions.

You can't get destroyed in OPEN if you understand how the game works. What's your excuse for getting killed ?

Is it really that hard for crymanders to understand that (in Open mode):
- Blazing your own trail does not mean choosing your own rules ?
- PvP fonctionnality is not optional while PvP activities are.
- It is not because you don't want to shoot others that others won't shoot you.
- If you die in OPEN it is your own fault.

Why is it so hard for carebears to co-exist with others without trying to force their gameplay on others without even acknowledging how the game works ?

I CBA-ed to do combat. So I wait and endure the period it takes for the other CMDR to, well, have fun I suppose? And then I start playing again :)

Crymanders? My god man, if that's the level of wit you're capable of, maybe you should shy away from posting in Open.

Why should I tolerate frustration and inconvenience during my leisure time - while performing my chosen leisure activity - and even pay money for this? This wouldn't make any sense.
But nope, we are not special, because we represent the majority of the E:D playerbase.

If your objective is to fix all the aggravation and name calling, you should adopt a non-partisan attitude rather than pick a side to pile your complaints on ;)

The rest of that mob of snowflakes has perfect access to any of the game modes as well. Each player gets to make the decision on whom they play along side. No one has to put up with unwanted attention in this game, by design.

How many of the HoBro's out there conveniently jump into PG/Solo to grind credits, or Engineers? This whole idea that our space time must be spent in open to get the true experience is tripe. Even those that crow about open and the adrenaline rush of the open experience, ditch it to get something done. So stow all of this open is something special.

It's like open is the most special snowflake of all.

I used to watch the Carebears when I was a kid; was probably one of my favorite shows. It's probably why I'm a violent misanthrope now.
