Like OMG so I like went to Earth to take me one of them selfie things over North America in my little sidey Lotsa Luck and do y'all know whut I found?

It's night time there in the game!!!!!!

That can't be so cuz the sun is up and blazing here at mah house rite now and whether it'z this year, last year or in a gazillion years, Day time is Day time is Day time. NOT Nite time!!

How can this beee happenin? Mah Immershunnnn is broken making the game unplayable now.

I guess I'll just ditch Lotsa Luck in the Bermuda Triangle and go searching for Atlantis. At least THAT'S real!!

It's night time where I am so you must be wrong, either that or it's a bug, I have heard that FD intend to fix this but the ETA is unknown.

Mah immersion, I can exceed the speed of light, which is impossible
Mah immersion, I can buy the exact ship with the same modules even though I'm dead, infinite lives ftw
Mah immersion, I want to wait an hour for my ship to be transferred here
Mah immersion, Most of the materials are made up
Mah immersion, this isn't real

Looking at the constant bickering by manchildren over politics in the American media, one would assume the rest of the citizenry should have little patience left for this kind of useless, snarky rhetoric in their leisure time.

Yep, everything is ~6hrs out of whack on ED Earth.

When it's lunch-time in real-world Britain, it's either dawn or dusk (I couldn't figure out which) on ED-Earth.

With a whole galaxy being modeled, it's not a good sign when they can't manage to get this ball of rock right. :p

A lot can change in a thousand years. I would be surprised to see that America is still there.

It's more like ~11272847 hours out :D

I live by the Great Lakes, which do not exist in 3303 apparently; the whole region looks like they went Pre-glacial for the resto work.

Also, I can't tell if OP is going for straight-up comedy, sidelong snark sniping at other players, or just went off their meds.

Wow, my comedy is that bad? Maybe I should get ON some meds then.

BTW, I have always loved your avatar. Good Nyborg man!

I have parked like that many a time in this game. At least I have shields. >___>

Plus you know this forum. This could be a 100% legitimate post around here. :D

Haha I went to Earth last night, there were storms over Australia .. just like IRL :p

Why would the timezones in 2017 match up with 3303 though? or would/should it?

Immersion = needing 2 hours to get to a station in supercruise but only a few seconds to make two jumps back to the star where you started.

Immersion = Bounty hunter mission, kill det deserter! (ate all the desserts). He's in a sidey, but 200K Ls from the star... mah dangerous life!

Immersion = Authority I just shot doesn't recognize me because I supercruzzzed out and back... bam.. like a champ. Shoot a cop? No problem, go out onto the main street, turn and drive back in.

Immersion = I can LAND on pla... moons? Whatever. Oh lookie, nice Earth type planets that pay so much when I scan them, but I cannot land there because we haven't perfected atmospheric flight yet.

Immersion = Mah Anaconda interdicted by an Eagle. Give me .00001 tons or I will stuff up your tailpipe!

Immersion = Really cool looking station.... no docking computer for sale because "poor". Yeah, poor space stations. If they offered more goods they wouldn't be so poor.

Immersion = Faction leader is crook from Scooby Doo - and I would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for the pesky kids! Rooby Roo!! Zoiks! Like hey Scoob!
:D

Here's my attempt at a lore friendly explanation.

UTC is a reasonable time to use as a standard time for humans, even off-world, until we get to the point where the off-worlders are no longer dependent on Mission Control, and Earth, for everything.

At that time I would expect a new Galactic Time to be introduced. My bet is it would begin as UTC on some date, but after that, there would be no corrections for drift in the Earth's rotation, which is now handled by leap-seconds. Why would someone living on another world care about earth's axis anomalies? This is why the time does not match the Earth's solar time any more.

So Galactic Standard Time becomes independent of any planet including Earth. It also wouldn't have a day of week or month associated with it either, since months and seasons are planet specific. It would only be time in seconds since it was initiated. Though I do think it would still use a 24 hour "day" since that is built into our biology.

FDev would get extra points if they really attempted to get the solar day correct on Earth in 3303 relative to an uncorrected UTC, including accounting for the slowing of the Earth's rotation rate (which itself isn't constant).

The Great Lakes were filled in in 2023 by Mr Trump so he could build a few more golf courses after the end of his second term (scary I know). I'm sure I read that in one of Drew's books, but maybe it's me forgetting to take the tablets.
