Small Hull CZ Fighter

o7 Commanders!

So here's the deal - I'm a big fan of the single seat cockpit fighters, Eagles, Vipers, Couriers (my personal vote for best cockpit in the game btw) etc.

My group and I often go into CZs for BGS reasons where I feel like I have to fly the most OP PVE ship possible to be contributing as much as I can, flying anything else feels too much like nerfing myself and therefore the group.

Is there any small hull ship out there, with the right loadout and fighter tactics that can contribute enough to justify leaving the FLD, Python etc in dock?

I'm pretty sure I could build a competitive Vulture but I think the line has to be drawn there really. Any ideas?

I have a Viper MKIV engineered to hell which just wrecks in CZs

Even though i have many ships which do more damage, are able to take more damage or even ones that are more agile i keep flying the viper.

Hey Nathan

Yeah, I like the MKIV so much, got started in it and miss it a lot.

Any chance of sharing your build?

Combi shield and hull tank. I like it. Probably takes a long time to bring it down.

The prismatics are out for me (at least short-term) and with such a strong hull I'd probably be tempted to go full hybrid and stick a bi-weave in there, rely on the hull for when it's recharging.

How do you have your weapons set up in terms of firegroups?

I believe i have the plasmas on Primary fire along with the pulse on Secondary on the first fire group. And on the second firegroup i believe I have the pulse on Primary and the railgun on Secondary.

I should point out the rail has feedback cascade.

Edit: I haven't actually tried bi weaves on this set up yet mainly because i already had a set of modded prismatics in storage. I assume they might be quite usefull but not sure how much strength i would loose.

My favorite small ship for CZ's is the taipan with fixed plasma, just leave a good NPC in charge of the mothership.

It's got a very flat profile so it's hardest to hit when pointed at the enemy, bit slow but with the best afterburners. The slightly increased tankiness means I often survive in it until the motherships out of ammo with no replacements. Unless they have missiles.

Not exactly what you were after but worth a try if you like the tiddlers.
