Rank lock the 'Conda to expert or master?!

Rereading the OP presents two whines:

Not enough battle experience for Conda.
Not enough time sink for Conda.

Both of which are completely unprovable by the OP.

I think it comes down to a sense of achievement over time invested. It gives the ships a tangible feel of value. It's a real thing that you are proud of because of how much effort you put into getting it.

When people Quince their Conda inside of a week its devalues the ship, the effort and the game play experiance.

Having a large ship and claiming it's some sort of accomplishment is pretty weak. Those that want to lock it behind rank or whatever basically just want to keep others from having it so they can look down on others. There's no value in that.

Never had an issue with newbies following some dumb youtube get rich guy - Sidewinder to Anaconda in 10 hours, be sure to click like etc etc.. Many just want to fast track to big ships.

My issue has always been when some of those players come to the forum and complain about losing that Anaconda to mid/low ranked NPC's. Part of the reason why Sarah was forced to make NPC changes.

I am Novice 49% and just bought my second Anaconda in 2 years play.

Do I get a pass for being ranked Pioneer 61% in exploration?

Seeing harmless players in Anaconda's is breaking the game IMO, It just looks wrong.

And breaks all the effort on the part of FD to make the first 40 hours of gameplay meaningful and seems to be totally at odds with this ethos.

Seeing "Elite" players post suggestions in the wrong forums is breaking the game IMO.

And breaks all the effort on the part of FD to make the forums organized and meaningful.

Second account maybe....?

Maaaybe.. Let's just say if there might hypothetically be a harmless Anaconda out there in some unguessable future that could potentially be named "Ackbar's Dictum".... It will be exactly what it says on the tin ;)

I'm harmless in combat, penniless in trade and Elite in exploring. It's taken me from launch to earn the credits the hard way to afford my Anaconda. When you see my Anaconda "Clansman" remember I've grafted my butt off to earn it since beta!

It's mine and you ain't locking it up. So there:p

What's a harmless Anaconda got to do with religion?

Oh, yes, I see.

you don't like seeing mostly harmless newbs flying in a rebuy they can't afford? I love spacing them & seeing them in a cobra next time ;)

Looking down on others because of a virtual achievment is pretty pointless, but ED is a game and a game is defined as a competative activity governed by rules leading to a victory or sense of achievement/reward.

Large ships, Triple Elite, Credit ballance are often bounced around by ED players as a bragging right. Progress, stratification, and status contibute to the ED gameplay. (one might argue that its pretty much all that Elite has to offer).

Placing some of the higher tear ships behind a level block, might provide more structure to game advancement giving players a greater sense of achievment as they progress while putting a curb on the 'rush to the top', 'get rich quick' schemes in ED which many feel is cheating and undermining the experiance.

People might actually play the game and not grind quince until they make bank.

Im pretty sure if a new player goes to a certain periphery system and spends two days grinding a certain repetitive mission type, it's possible to be in an Anaconda.

I don't care. Identify are not experienced it won't take long for them to lose the ship. I'm in no race against anyone. Been playing since day 1 and only have 28 million to my name.

Two out of three of the largest ships are already rank locked.

Seven ships in total are rank locked.

+1 rep. But we already have ranked locked ships. Behind Imperial and Federal ranks, so no more are needed. If FD were to give in and tie the Anaconda to a combat rank, what would they have accomplished? The same people crying about it now would complain that they see too many Pythons being flown by lower ranked CMDRs.

I think we're on basically the same page though. But I think one of the coolest things abut the game is that none of us are important. None of us are the one true hero. We're all equal in our insignificance. The game persists that way and it's a lot of its charm.
