Laid it on so thick that I'm not sure if this is sarcasm or a genuine get off my lawn post.
I think it's called pointless vitriol.
no its apathy. vitriol is far more nasty and painful and spiteful. whereas the entire post tone was 'so what? they suck at playing, they wont be able to deal with other players. wont have patience to learn how, and i cant see how it affects me. yawn.'
Another example of the consequences of worrying about what other people have, and as is typically the case, someone elses' possession of the object of concern has no impact whatsoever on anyone other than that person.
And what stops them from doing the rank grind for a Corvette/Cutter instead, if the Anaconda was locked beyond the far more tedious grind that combat ranks are?
That's because combat rank is the only rank visible to other commanders.
Been playing since beta, and flying a Conda forever, and my combat rank on screen still showed as harmless(till recently) , how come you only just noticed ?
What a silly post. There are many many many IRL things of great value, consequence and risk that are only locked behind a paywall with no accompanying skillset requirements for purchase besides Possess Black Credit Card.
Even Gran Turismo as cargame premiere backed off over time on how much licencing you needed to play the main game.

Ok I been piloting in Elite Dangerous since August 2015 and I wasn't able to get the Anaconda till this spring 2017. Not to mention I was no weapons long hauls outta Ceos/Sothis some times falling a sleep at the helm. The Anaconda should not be rank locked it's hard enough as is you got that
Plus your doing everything so perfect you don't even notice.
While the rest of us make one little mistake and it's boom rebuy. I'll say it I've had two rebuy in the last 15 days on was a HazRez in Merope I dropped in with my Combat Anaconda and a wing of three took me out no joke less than 10 seconds. #2 was I scraped a Beluga on exit high-speed and the station took me out.
Plus your doing everything so perfect you don't even notice.

Yes, that's why I've said this
and why the OP's idea is ridiculous.
If they legit earned their Conda, then they'll see me trundling up behind them from a light year away. At the very least, they would turn and low wake, or fall into the gravity well of a planet to make interdiction impossible.
On the other hand, if they exploited their way to stardom, the last thing they'll see are my shells exploding all over their poorly shielded modules.

There are no competence tests in this game - other than the game itself. I'd rather it stayed that way.

What about the elite rank needed to enter to shinrarta dezhra? Isn't that a competence test?
Nope... It is just an endurance test. Being Elite in any of the 3, is just Endurance.
EDIT: The only one of the 3 that could meassure Competence, would be PvP Combat. But since Combat rank is not related to PvP, it is still just an Endurance meter. Nothing more, nothing less.
