Rank lock the 'Conda to expert or master?!

It would seem that my scanner is unable to resolve a contact from such a poor signal.... ;)

Oh my god that burn! I'm going to need some cream, stat.

Don't mind me - I'll just spend 12 hours getting Modular Terminals for the engineer that can help me with that.

Better off getting rid of the pew-pew title listed instead.
Or changing it to the CQC one, let's see who the "real manly men" are.

Commander EUS, I would agree with that except for one glaring issue. I cannot get into a CQC match ever. Wasting hours on end for a match to start is not my idea of fun. I dare say a lot of people see CQC this way too?

And the winner of the troll post of the week goes too...... john willi..... yayyyyyyyy

You may have knocked old Zarek Null the all high Troll Emperor off his throne with this pearler thread.

I've just about got my Elite in Exploration in my Exploraconda (the old honk and scan way, passenger missions suck the big one imho) Trade will be my second target, utilising the same ship. Combat (which I suck at and hate) will probably stay at Harmless for a long time yet.

Mind you, I'm always open to suggestions like yours if, when implemented FD wipe everyone's slate clean and we all start again under the same rules...

Combat rank might be extreme. So how about your choice of combat, trade or exploration rank?

Im pretty sure if a new player goes to a certain periphery system and spends two days grinding a certain repetitive mission type, it's possible to be in an Anaconda.

Seeing harmless players in Anaconda's is breaking the game IMO, It just looks wrong.

And breaks all the effort on the part of FD to make the first 40 hours of gameplay meaningful and seems to be totally at odds with this ethos.

Without reading the thread, my initial thoughts are: No. A man can win the lottery and buy a Ferrari - This does not make him an F1 driver especially when his last car was a Mini and so when he goes racing he will always lose until he learns all that a true racer has.

Then there is how it works for the player's in smaller ships - It's possible to pirate these 'Harmless' ships as well as bounty hunt them plus I've seen plenty of low ranked AI flying big ships and even more mid/high ranked flying smaller ships and all do fine in a battle with each other.

Variety is the spice of life like liquorice and it takes all sorts to make it interesting ;)

Sorry for not reading the thread but I have just had my first coffee of the day and it was rather strong which lowers my patience somewhat!

On my second CMDR I'm working towards a "harmless Conda" because some people in this game are more interested in what other people do and have than they are in enjoying the game. Avoiding combat means it's slow going but I've come up with a roleplay to explain my CMDRs aversion for violence, combined with posts like yours it motivates me to continue.

I'm also working on my second CMDR at the moment - I reckon I'll only have to accumulate 15 Bounty Vouchers totalling 100k Cr. and 50 Combat Bonds totalling 1M Cr. to unlock the Engineers I want to - this CMDR has not yet fired a shot (even at an asteroid).

Well, I'd agree, but seeing threads from people who have twenty hours in-game, grinded up to an Anaconda then lose it when they hit boost instead of landing gear is just precious.

I have done that in my cutter!!

Well not necessarily my fault.. The GF walks in, starts says something... and a little Voice Attack voice echo's in your ear : BOOSTING.......... just as you're flying through the letterbox...

Upon later examination, after a kersplat.. The VA logs : Turbo Boost... (Confidence 11).. and you're like... grrrr. GF's gonna pay that back... [somehow]

I recall one commander saying that his young child (around 4 years old?) took great delight is running in to the room and shouting "boost daddy, boost" and VA would obediently boost. Lost one or two ships that way I believe.

LOL, that can be countered... Could program COFFEE CUP! to initiate boost... or ... Break wind, it's time to sail !!!! .... but even in code.... or Latin... The GF would still activate boost with her non stop chattering... it's rules of averages, within 20 seconds lol.

You do realise that the ship doesn't actually weigh anything, don't you?

?

So are you implying that Mass has no bearing on a object moving through space? Because i assume you assume in 'Space' everything is 'weightless'...

I think you should read up on the laws of motion and gavitation. And maybe think about upgrading your Elite Dangerous account to include Horizons.

Small sidetracking: personally I wish ranks themselves would be based on competence test, rather than grind. So you're elite when you can kill an Elite Corvette with an unmodded Eagle or something, rather than roflstomping a million Elite Sideys in the face with a modded corvette...

Hmm, yes. Not a bad idea.

I actually made combat Elite killing an Elite Sidewinder with my A-rated Anaconda (before the Corvette or Engineers). That was a bit of an anti-climax.
