Well, this is new. Last night I was RES hunting and came across a wanted DBX. After making several passes, and seeing no discernible damage, I went in for a closer look. It was just sitting in space motionless. I was able to target it and shoot it but not damage it. In fact several npc cops were also shooting it to no effect. My crew said they couldn't even see it. So, what's going on here? A Thargoid trick? Ghost ship? Space madness? Ultra engineered shields?

Were there other people instanced with you? I've seen this happen a number of times with different ships and variations thereof.
Some time ago there was a reported sighting of an unidntified DBX circling around Obsidian Orbital at speeds far higher than any recorded top speed in ED. Could be related.
I've had this happen a couple of times too. Both during single player and when winged. Just another game bug... Move along please, nothing to see here...

These are sync issues because you are sharing your instance. Happens all the time. No conspiracy

That was just a known bug. Galnet article was to try and "hide" the bug with some in game horse hooey. Nice idea by FD to try and incorporate bugs into the world, but not enough people saw it for what it was. Nowadays, we would call it "Fake News"
Yeah I am sorry to say it as well OP, but it is just a bug that has been coming up at RES sites for a while now, much more so when in wing and when other non-winged CMDRs wake in and out too, certainly in my experience. Having said this, it does appear to be much more common now than what I remember, say six months or longer ago :/

Ive seen this a fair bit recently at the latest CG, id guess its just a bug due to networking. The main station had about 5-6 unnamed ships floating motionless and i had 1 instance where a wanted ship in haz rez was flying around but took no damage from me whatsoever. Eventually i moved onto another target.
It was happening to me while playing with friends long time ago. Later I discovered in my router logs, that some game network packets were simply rejected by it from unknown reason during the session and it very probably caused this kind of problem (and also problems with instancing when we weren't able to see each other). Forced port in the game config and router port mapping solved it.
