OMG!!! New rift user

SuperSampling sure fixed any speedo problems I had in PCars, Assetto and ETS2. Just with Elite, all those games needed to have the graphics settings worked on and SS played a big part of it

Pretty much any game that didn't start out as a VR/VR compatible game, but added it later, looks or runs like crap until you fine tune it for your PC

Planning on getting dirt rally quite soon. What FFB wheel would you recommend?

The Logitech 920 is very good and doesnt cost a bomb.

You will find that every sim has a very different implementation of FFB and it takes a while to get it dialed in to your liking.

Dont be surprised when you first play if it feels bloody awful.

I have a zillion hours in Dirt, iRacing, PCars, Assetto and Euro Truck and ive spent a lot of time getting the feedback and setup for each one dialled in.

If money is no object then the Fanatec setups are worth a look...

Very true and ffb quality varies wildly among each of them. Once tweaked, they all do a pretty good job. I found Assetto a challenge to get right on my old Momo, but when I did, it tightened up to near IRacing quality (I think IRacing has it nailed). One other thing worth mentioning is that ffb routines place an additional demand on a system. When I only had a gtx 980 in my rig, I hated the handling and ffb in PCars, not to mention the graphics. With the 1080ti, this has become a totally different title. Handling is now much more realistic. Although, having only one scanned track does still make it feel a little arcade like for my tastes. It is much more enjoyable now, though.

Just flew my first Rift VR eagle around Mars station. I'm blown away. It's the most amazing gaming experience I've ever had and I'm 50 and a life long gamer. The controls and displays make so much more sense in VR, not aggressive or in your face. Just amazing what FD did with this.

Throttle part of Hotas is a necessity now, no more keyboarding it :)

Mindblowing, isn't it? On my first session, i did not dare to enter the full game and did a training mission instead. I sat there in the Sidey cockpit for minutes, just enjoying the pure awesomeness of the cockpit and station interiors... VR is the game changer, i always waited for. And the response here on the forums shows, that we are not alone with our enthusiasm. VR and AR are indeed media revolution. Next level.

Yes, it's mind blowing. However I keep getting shifted to the right of the pilot's seat and I'm seeing from the chest area, inside the flight suit. I'll check for threads pertaining to this phenomena. I have two sensors, maybe I don't have the setup right.

There is a "recenter HMD" option, within ED options. I have it bound to the pinkie trigger on my X-52 stick. Any time my view gets out of calibration, I just give that a squeeze.

And to really do it right, create a command in VoiceAttack that presses F12 for you :)

the only downside of vr is imo it means certain types of game you just wont enjoy playing outside of VR from now on.

Elite is one of them.

I had to get a replacement Rift a few months back, (fantastic warranty service sent me back a brand new one!), In the interim I tried to play Elite on my monitor... You just cannot do it... No going back! For me this is a VR only game now.

My reaction exactly! When I first of on my Rift and played Elite I could stop laughing, 'I own a spaceship!'

I keep having this recurring fantasy, of walking out of the house.
Hitting a button on a key-fob and my Corvette appear above me, and dropping a winched rope or something.

Sure would be a way to beat the commute, but then again if I had a corvette......
I would probably find something better to do instead of going anywhere on earth...

excellent. do you know if you are getting the old bundle complete with xbox pad and oculus remote (and rubberised box) and touch thrown in separate or the new rift "complete" pack without the pad but with touch built in?.

Not 100% sure, getting the new controllers bundle anyway. I will primarily (initially at least) be playing Elite with it so using Hotas and voiceattack.

My canopy cracked in my Vulture last night, so couldn't see the "Destination time/distance countdown" to the station ahead of me I had to lean waaaaaaay over to the right to see it. Longest seven and a half minutes of my life to get repaired and claim the 5.5M bountys I had. 34 seconds to spare.

This just gets better and better in VR:D
