Anti griefer CG suicide-winder interdiction units...

Really?
Now my memory may have become erratic and I may confuse you with some other people, but I seem to recall lots of derision, ridicule, contempt, etc. from your direction towards anyone who isn't a hardcore PvP player...

Yeah I think you are a bit confused. ;)

That's the idea, though I've never seen it applied effectively. In general, it reduces the likelihood of tying up troublemakers by creating more hostiles than there otherwise would be. It's like invading random Middle Eastern nations with no plans for a protracted occupation and no exit strategy then wondering why things get worse.

All the times I have been a victim of these system defense forces I was originally participating in the CG and was yanked as potential hostile, then because of bounties that accumulate because I'm not willing to suicidewinder (and I frequently have people demand that I do so, which is offensive in the extreme) I get whole wings chasing me around systems while actual pirates and more disruptive types get a free pass. It's really quite ridiculous.

In light of this information, I highly advise just slaughtering everyone in the instance who is not a known friend. It's the only way to be sure.

Though I can carry a grudge, I'm a live and let live kinda guy most of the time. I'm also almost always heavily outnumbered.

Best I can usually hope for is an SDC wing inadvertently coming to my rescue after I've bloodied some noses. The self proclaimed "good guys" are usually too incompetent to escape unscathed and SDC types usually prefer easier targets than myself. If I'm lucky I can get enough hits in against both sides so that they think I'm part of the other and make it to the station to cash my vouchers or sell my cargo while they beat the snot out of eachother....worst case scenario I end up with eight or twelve flashing red contacts on me and either have to high wake, or more rarely, explode.

Either way it's a lot more fun than blocking everyone and trying to fly in my own protected demiplane while in Open.

I thought my idea was the best, but I guess your idea is pretty good, too.

A little birdy told me that you were winged with 12.5 last night.

Yup! I found out later after I joined a pick up wing ;)

Normally I fly solo, independent, or with federal forces, but these Imperials were fighting the "content delivery specialists" so it was a good fit. Eventually my regular independent wing buddies showed up and we had a little better success. I am new to PVP faction politics but the 13th seemed pretty cool at first blush.

I've never seen anyone use a kamikaze Sidewinder for this. Most of the time it's a Courier or iEagle with enough shielding to get out of weapons range at 820m/s+ and they pull over people not to fight them, but to deny them any enjoyment, or any kills.

Fair point. I was using a Vulture and going weapons hot with each interdiction and fighting until the last possible second. It's definitely more fun for everyone that way, and technically they do have a chance to kill me. I'm sure someone will do it eventually. Maybe even this CG?

Right now though some unhappy people are using Multicrew too much and breaking the instances at Abroin. So not much going on despite there being a lot of people.

Yeah, I was playing earlier (actually saw you for a moment in the system next door) and the instancing was atrocious.

Tried to do some bounty hunting in the High RES, but mostly ended up chasing around some stealth Cobra that was trying to drop mines next to newbie bounty hunters...then Groovez starting shooting Kinmob's clipper and I found myself having to wake away after a short engagement with him and his wingmate. Whole thing was a stuttery mess...I'm amazed I didn't end up inside a rock in the RES.

Most interesting encounter of the day was actually with the station miners; I had wondered how my FDL's hull would hold up to explosive damage...

(Disclaimer, some textual profanity in chat at some point and CMDR names visible, but I'm pretty certain no one featured would feel this is naming and shaming)

It can be argued that the 13th can be cool. Sort of. Not by me personally, mind you.

12.5 is Scythia's group, and there's no redemption for him.

What makes it different from players interdicting other players for other reasons (and having to repeatedly interdict players that escape)?

So one form of 'griefing' is okay when it suits your position. You are transparent.

All of this has always boiled down to folks being so bad and unable to control their own emotions that they seek to control what others can and can't do.

The only reason why we are in this position, for the want of a better expression, is that DB is another scrub when it comes to online gaming. What did he say about anyone who beats him? Oh yeah, they are snot nosed teenagers.

Fact of the matter is that people who would have ordinarily be accepted as good at gamers are considered by this pitiful narrative as being 'griefers'.

I've never been 'griefed' in this game or any other. Anyone who has needs to realise the problem is them.

Really? You certainly made my lulzbucket giggle. No gud player ever calls another a bad or makes fun of scrubs.

Im not making fun of anyone. I'm just rather tired of this one sided narrative. With all of this alleged 'griefing' going on I do wonder how I've never encountered it once in all these years of playing exclusively in Open.

See my earlier response to another regarding piracy and bounty hunting - and the need to repeatedly interdict those that manage to escape. Interdicting suspected / known attackers in a system where there are other ships needing protecting seems to be as valid a gameplay reason as "leave the system 'cos we say so or we'll destroy you".

Define "ordinarily" in this case - there are players that are good and don't bother those that are uninterested in their play-style - it's the ones that impose their play-style on the uninterested that would seem to be the problem, whether they are good or not.

Just to be clear, if you ever hear me use the word "griefer" it's really because of a lack a better term. Tbh, I think these guys are doing a community service by being willing to be branded as Wanted. I mean, without them the game would be pretty boring.

I was at the CG tonight, ran interference with some other relative PvP-neophytes, while in my Corvette and Vulture. Was a blast. I got my butt handed to me on several occasions when we were massively outnumbered, and came back for more every time. Died 3 times, killed as many. Was great fun, and learned a lot! Mostly that I have some more engineering to do, lol.

So honestly, I give you a hard time sometimes, but thanks SDC for being you. Some of you may be gruff and others may actually work hard at milking salt, but you put on one hell of a show. And one hell of a fight!

Just a couple thoughts to add to this thread:

As I said on page one, this chain interdiction idea is literally a text book example of "griefing" as Fdev defines it.
Wrong.

I would have added arguments, but they were ignored the other 2 times I debunked this claim, so not going to bother.
