We're actually paying to have no colour (white) lasers and engines?

Aircraft, which left visible smoke trails, are easier to track and target. My F-4D, USAF 66-719, had one of the engine types known as a "heavy smoker" :(

What else is there left to sell for color?

Shields is one ... though I prefer the standard blue ... they won't look good in white.

Ship internals?

The Clipper is white inside, and the Cutter (I think) .... and maybe the Beluga.
But FD could sell wallpaper :D

In all seriousness I wouldn't mind the ability to change the canopy tint on the Saud Kruger passenger ships, or even "paint over" it as part of a skin. The reflective black is cool, but it would be nice to be able to blend it with other skins. I'm guessing this would not be a simple job to code, given that none of the skins themselves modify the canopy. Ultimately I'd like to have skins that look like actual killer whales or dolphins, even if that means colouring over some of the reflective portions.

@Op - First world problems..

So let me understand... You just went into a thread you seem to have no interest in. Then basically ignored the hundred odd posts in it making various points etc, and instead hopped up onto some moral high horse to inform us how pointless you feel the thread is?

Why do that? It's pointless? Kettle black?

Shields? HUD colour? Internal light colours and options? External light colouts and options?

Wallpaper! LOL! Why not carpet colour and style too!

It take more bits to be turned on to show white such as RGB values of 255,255,255 or FF FF FF than all the other colors, lol.
Also as mentioned earlier, white lasers are composed of the entire color spectrum. or in DC comics, "white lantern"/"brightest day" representing the "source" power , lol.

White engine exhaust is great to me, reminds me of the booster exhaust scene at the end of Alien, with the serene Howard Hansen's "romantic' symphony No. 2 music playing.

You understood wrong, I do have an interest in cosmetics and ship engine trails, I have also been following every post in this thread since it started. I still stand by my point, first world problems.. FDEV is a business, nobody is forced to buy engine trails, be it black/white blue purple etc. I tend to purchase these kind of things to support the company every now and then because they don't have a monthly subscription, most of the purchases are completely pointless, I have no interest in a flight suit, I bought one anyway, price of pint of beer..

Yes it took little to no effort to change engine colours to white, so what? Don't buy it, if enough do the same FD will have to adapt. I guess to some it is a huge deal. First world problems..

"Huge deal?"

"First world problems?"

You're certainly using some loaded terms...

When considering you're repeatedly levelling such terms at a little conversation, about a fairly minor quibble, it just seems rather ironic at least to me... ie: Just ignore it rather than being so unnecessarily confrontational about it?

Anyhoo...

Carry on mate, this thread has been entertaining.

Actually pay or not pay aside, it would be interesting to know how much effort (eg: man days/weeks) it did take to make thrusters (and lasers) definable colours. And then if it literally was just changing FF0000 to 00FF00, or there was more involved...

We'll of course never get the answer, but it would be interesting... My noggin at least tells me it's straight forward to change the colour between the various options...

Probably the most complex thing is the added network complexity being added for this? ie: CMDR's thruster and laser colours amongst a myriad of other things being broadcast and stored for everyone other CMDR in the instance (including multi-crew etc).

Are Friday "outrage at the price of cosmetics" posts going to be new Sunday "this game is dying" posting style? It is getting very tiresome... Frontier listened to the community who said "we don't want to pay for credits because that is pay to win" and "we don't want to pay a subscription fee" and the net effect was that there would be chargeable cosmetics.

Blame the community, if you have an issue. And for the love of God, stop moaning about inconsequential sub £5 items.

I really do not care whether I have to pay a tiny amount of money for some cosmetics or not have to pay anything. I can't believe people are getting upset by it to be honest.

So folks aren't simply allow to discuss a matter that some self appointed "discussion sheriffs" don't want them to? This is sort of ironic when the outrage in truth seem to be repeatedly coming from these individuals... :)

Maybe if you don't agree with a topic, just ignore it? Far more productive than simply ploughing in with sweeping/loaded/unfounded statements?

Just a suggestion of course...

Now now... No one is really getting "upset" now are they? Surely people are simply discussing the approach of charging for such things.

The emotive stuff seems to be coming from folks seemingly angry at people simply daring to discuss the matter at all. It's all very ironic really.

BTW - I couldn't careless about £X. But I'm interested in this continued trend of charging for ascii characters displayed on the screen, and the colour of things... I'm not the least bit angry about it... But it seems some folks are getting angry about people daring to even discuss this matter! Odd! Just unsubscribe from the thread - sorted!

i wont unsub becouse im interested by your interest. im not angry about it but you sure seem to get angry about ppl that have a diferent opinion of your own.

OK I really don't want to get into politics, but I'm an American. I have a collection of handguns and a license to carry any of them mostly anywhere. And I hear gunshots so regularly where I live that I can tell a .22 from a 9mm, and I know the distinctive sounds of shotguns and rifles. Just from living downtown. It has gone a bit too far, I'm a small-time gun nut myself and even I'm tired of guns now.

Which came 1st - bullet or lifechangingInjury ?
or ....
yup against the rules I know, but it had to come out. :-(

My point is that it is the same outrage every week when we know it is not going to change. Seems like fruitless complaining to me, and there have been a couple of "I hate Frontier" type posts in this thread indicating the anger coming from the "I want free cosmetics" is shall we say, more intense?

Today, in real life cars, you can buy sort of one way glass opaque or patterened from the outside sort of clear from the inside. add a few 1000nd years and the Flash Harry's Accountants will have full one way glass so they are not seen sneeking off with the lolly..... ;-) Mijk
