THE FORMIDINE RIFT MYSTERY (Part 4)

Is this poetry? A haiku? The sound of one hand clapping?
'cos I don't get it

Shenanigans I call upon each of thee
The Rift Mystery Thread take warn!
Nothing left for us explorers to see
Except Teorge where clones are born.

Salomé's story has reached a tearful end
But a conspiracy grand she did reveal.
Who is left for The Dark Wheel to send
and force The Club to kneel?

Tis but us Rifters and the CoR
Her message we must shout!
We must try and halt this xeno war
and tell the galaxy what it is about.

The truth is there for all to see
Just open your eyes and look.
Don't take this word just from me;
You should read Drew's latest book.

It's the Space madness.
And a very classic case.
Very sad to see.

Groan! :D
But it's looking to me like The Club is an aspect of the true Dark Wheel

Don't think we're going to be able to prevent a xeno war. We might be able to befriend/ally with the Oresrians (this time) and just fight the Klaxians with the assistance of Oresrian technology exchange, or else we fight (with reverse engineered old tech left over from the war) the Oresrians and the Klaxians! First thing we'll need is a Goid IFF to distinguish the two!

and while you're talking about "the truth is there for all to see"- I'm pondering about the beacons deployed (but we've never found any) in the FRift etc at ELW, and wondering if they were not beacons but masking technology to prevent those planets showing up on ship scanners in order to hide them from any pursuing/exploring goids. Have we ever had any suggestion of any such technology in Galnet etc?

edit: don't suppose anyone had the presence of mind to do an eyeball search in Zurara system for undetectable planets?

This is something that bothers my a lot. We de facto know a system where one of the ELWs should be and its not there, so either we miss something or FDev/Drew does not care. Of course they can always release a Galnet article later stating the those beacons used experimental technology which can hide a whole planet, but this would be kind of lame. I would not be mad if the planet can be found in-game but just don't shows up in the system map. Then we would know that FD can do things like this and have probably done with Raxxla as well...

If the planet is hidden, then an eyeball search wouldn't be that effective.

Maybe a gravity anomaly search would be better (like "we" used to find suns and planets before "we" could afford that ADS).

Since Jaiotu is already suffering a bad case of space madness I think he is the best candidate for such a search. If we are willing to endure the stream of haikus that probably will result from his endeavor.

Out of rep. I'll save you one for later. :)

We're talking about searching for invisible things.

The Rifters are BACK! :D

I have no idea what this means, but nonetheless, I fully endorse it!

On a completely unrelated note, I just stumbled across an earthlike world in orbit around a L and T class binary pair.
It's nice to know there's still weird stuff left to find :D

Actually, I was just funning about the swear filter bypassing, little did I expect to kick off literary scramble.

Little did we know to seek,
amongst the systems beige and bleak,
an Earth-Like here, an ammonia there,
eyes burning with the surface stare.
A celestial sepulchre in distant skies,
an antihero's fiery demise,
now we drift without a Rift's
mystery to ensnare.

How do you do a gravity anomaly search?

"gravity anomaly" might be the wrong words - gravity well search probably describes it better: while in super cruise fly a search pattern and look at the speed. If an astronomical body is near the speed will drop. The gravity well of the astronomical body affects the FSD.
That way it's possible to find objects not discovered by the discovery scanner.

The other method would be eyeballing for the parallax effect - looking for bright dots that move relative to the background of stars.

Both methods take ages and cause extreme forms of space madness.

In some cases it happened to me while there was nothing nearby - I guess the are some stuff in the Stellar Forge that aren't represented yet.

Apologies if this has already been pointed out, but maybe we're just looking in the wrong place?

In the Prologue to Premonition, the science officer reports:

‘We have an M2V class red dwarf, sir,’ she said. ‘Seventeen planets. Planettwo is confirmed as … an Earth-like world.’

The Zurara is not found in such a system. Obviously, it could simply be a discrepancy between the book and the game. But maybe not. Anyone know of a way to query either the ingame star chart or a 3rd party resource to isolate M2 V stars in the Syreadiae sector?
