Now I have forbidden my children to look at the newsletter in the future. But they can continue to play ED to kill, traffic to the black market, sell slaves etc ...

:p

... grief random people causing damage in equivalent of 20 ingame-hours...
... take a look at shipnames like "hitler" or "pimmel"

and so on...

In be4 people who need a reality check call for someone to resign...

People mess up, it happens. It's right this was taken out, it's right that an apology is made but lets get over it and be glad this was actioned within 24hrs on a weekend.

.
I agree.

Yes it was bad that this content was present, bad that it somehow wasn't picked up or otherwise remoal wasn't actioned prior to "going live" -HOWEVER - I actually think it's a rare treat and extremely very swift action on behalf of whoeever's responsible that it was acknowledgedand dealt with swiftly.

Lol. Sorry, I can´t take this serious. Really. Even if a 5 year old is reading that - he will not become a Djihad-Spreading-Shooter just because of a dialougue used in a comic.
It is not that simple. It is a case of 'those that set the rules, should also set the example'. I am not offended by the cartoon language, but I am appalled that someone; possibly more that one person, is being paid to 'get it right' and they all failed with the basics.

The cartoon wasn't funny for me. I think the cartoon should not have been linked to the news letter it has poor art bad caricature and portrays ED, Frontier in a dim light.

I'd advise you to stay well away from software development then. You really wouldn't like it here.

There is a major difference in the job roles. Software developers must be about 5 levels about simple copy editors or proof readers.

"Oh, no, someone used the F word".

Well, I don't really care, to be honest. The comic was pretty funny.

I didn't even notice. Though, to be fair I curse like a sailor when not on these forums and not at work so it's no surprise that I'm so desensitized to the word that I wouldn't even see it. Another over-reaction imo, thus my previous sarcasm, if anyone even picked it up.

Pretty much the same, I do swear too much. Anyway, I believe the OPs message has been a bit over-reacted. Sure it wasn't right for FD to link that comic to the newsletter, as it did contain swearing. However a simple warning should have been enough, not writing down such a drama statement.

I note the retraction/explanation above was posted a full day after my post was posted, but fully accept the inclusion of the cartoon was a "mistake".....which did have some familial consequences for me.. hence bashing off an irate post! And does my nephew know all the "words"? .... yes probably but NOT from the school he goes to..... I can fully assure you all!

Hey there,

Sorry about this. It was a little slip up on our part when double-checking the content that was submitted for Comms Chatter.
Our newsletters are subject to the same rules that we have here on the forums - no swearing or offensive language.

Sorry for dropping the ball on this one, we'll do our absolute best to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Thanks for bringing our attention to it - we apologise for any upset caused.

Ed

Thanks Ed. Apology fully and unreservedly accepted!..... but phew you should be glad you didn't have to deal with my sister-in-law who's lad I so vilely exposed to the offending word. I will explain further for my fellow commanders who can't understand my posting on such a trivial matter....the family are an very orthodox religious family and only just tolerate the Elite "TRADING" game I've been promoting to their offspring...... so I'm afraid that there is one nephew who is now banned from my corrupting ways....no more ED for him then.....in fact no more Uncle "Hems" either!:(

I can understand the OP's point, However, the F word has become so common place in today's world I am sure the lad,has heard it and seen it daily. Sad but true.

Before you make a pronouncement please see my post above. Thank you

I honestly feel bad for you now more than anything. Corrupting ways... lmao. I'm sorry but these people must not live in the real world.

Thanks for your kind concern, what is done is done. I can assure you the family (extended) DO live in a real world, just not the same you and I probably inhabit. If you went back to 50's Britain you would then recognise the parallel but real (moral) world in which they still live and try to raise their children. I don't necessarily fully subscribe to it, hence playing ED....BUT I should have respected their world and not even interested him in the game in the first place!

Hello! I drew that. Sorry about any backlash it caused. I was completely unaware that it was in the newsletter until one of my friends sent it to me. Tickled pink that it showed up, though, even if a bunch of people thought it wasn't funny.

Proof: here's the original reddit post, right next to my login (http://i.imgur.com/qJVvUui.png). Posted it on reddit a week or so ago here (https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDange...d_also_plays_elite_dangerous_and_he_did_this/) Warning, foul language in comments (do I need to do that here? I'm not really sure).

Fun fact: This actually did happen. My dad texted me, said he needed me right away, and I figured he was in trouble, so I drove like a maniac to his house. Then it turned out that he was late on a couple missions and needed me to do them so he could go off to a party. I was incredibly confused, annoyed, and amused. Did the missions anyway.

Fire away if you have anything to say to me. Already read the thread, though, so I'm aware that I'm an unfunny talentless hack and that this shouldn't have been in the newsletter. :p Glad that people who did like it... well, liked it! And I'm tickled pink that the devs thought it was funny enough to include... even if it was a mistake in the draft version, lol.
