Frontiers 5th Franchise......

I was having a bit of a trip down memory lane with some retrogaming and had a total blast with Virus.

i bought it on the amiga, and then bought V2000 years later.

personally i think now could be a very cool time to release V2017 (ok realistically probably V2018)

i would hope a lot of the tech is already in place, we have planet surfaces already in Elite, so would just be a matter of having it in the 3rd person and adding in some new ai etc.
(ok perhaps it would be better AFTER atomospheric worlds are done)

As a budget title i think it would sell well (surely must support VR however)

and further more, perhaps the assets for it could at some point make it into elite?

Looking at this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frontier_Developments it shows that Frontier don't own the rights to V2000, which is a shame as they then can't make a new game with that title without asking and paying Grolier Interactive (the copyright owners).

But if Frontier were to consider a 5th game after the "enduring film franchise", then maybe something they published themselves would be a good idea ... which would probably be a 3rd LostWinds game.

interesting.....

would that affect another sequel to the original Virus however rather than a sequel to V 2000?

PS i didnt know they made darxide! that is a quality title for the 32X.

If I could choose any game to redo, I'd go with Lemmings. Simple game that kept me entertained for many days.

great game and iirc came about as a tech demo for the game "Walker" the devs were trying to show how many sprites the amiga could draw on the screen at one time without slowdown, then one started mucking about making them die in silly ways on their lunch break or something..... so the story goes. ***

*** its possible I am making that up! its been a while since I saw the interview about it.

I had my money on Lost Winds being there next title, as they seem to be trying to keep those games in gamers minds.

cool so i was pretty much on the money then.... who said old people are senile? :D

that said, I am gonna stick my neck out still and say their facts are wrong. I owned blood money as well on my amiga, and it is most certainly NOT the game they are thinking of. i stand by my claim it was walker. ;)
