Why the heck do the controls change sometimes ?

Hi,

The question is in the title : Why sometimes I lost some of my controls ?
The number key (1 to 0) just don't work. That bug exists for a very long time (that is why I don't post in the bug section) and it is never fixed.
Does anyone know why this game is so particular that some controls have to change ?

That happened to me a couple of weeks ago, Q and E stopped working for no apparent reason. I had to reset the controls to resolve the issue, losing all my custom key-binds in the process.

Whenever I change my control setting I save them so if something happens I can reload them easily.

I've had random keys switch off but it's probably just that random.....Saving the keybinds is useful as I often pass them to newer players as well to give them some idea of how I play/fly.

Only time I have seen mappings disappear in the Config is when a controller is not intialised before you start the game. If I was to start my bindings in ED without having my Warthog plugged in it would strip the mappings off. Haven't seen that for a keyboard mapping though. Do you have access to try a different keyboard for a while and see if it occurs with different hardware?

Since I renamed my binds file, both the filename and the XML tag inside, mine have never changed without my manual intervention.
They are also backed up to the cloud

This.

1. Copy the Default.bind to something like YOURNAME.bind. File location is "%localappdata%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings".
2. You need to open and edit the yourname.bind file. Just edit the second line of the file containing "Root PresetName="YOURNAME"".
3. Then choose the binding from control preferences.

Make a backup copy of this file time to time and send it to your Gmail or save it to cloud.

The problem is, there is no proper in-game bindings management. I still don't understand how, after 3 years, I still have to:

It's ducking ridiculous. Why do I have to do this?

The problem is, no one seems to notice... until they lose their bindings, then all of a sudden you're face with the grind form hell to get it all set up again. and even if you did manage to save a backup, it's still a mission to get it back tot he right place and make it actually work.

Again, why is this not possible to do *in game*? Why do I have to go through 20 layers of menus to get it sorted?

Ahh yes, however, so long as you don't change any bindings and save again, if you exit ED, plug in your controller and restart the game, everything will be a-ok.
