Rank and mission rewards, is there a connection?

During the summer sell I bought an alt account. I just started it up yesterday. My main account is on a long expedition to the Delta Quadrant.

My main account is also elite ranked in trade. I notice on my alt account mission payouts are pennies compared to my main account. Take Quince for example, a planetary scan mission can sometimes pay up to two million with my main account, with my alt account I'm not getting ones over 400k (that includes with allied rep). I assume that it's because my trade rank? Quince is just an example, mission payout across the board are lower.

I also had forgotten how condescending the faction reps are to new cmdrs :D

I had always assumed that rank made a difference. Even when I was allied in Chaxiraxi with most of the factions, the trade missions didn't pay near the amount they do for me now. (I think I hit merchant there, and now I'm a broker)

Yeah, there are Combat/Trade/Explore rank reqs too, you should see a few under the "Requirements Not Met" most likely, and as you guessed yeah, they tend to pay more. Its always been this way. Same goes for passenger missions, higher exploration rank gets you access to longer trips and more important passengers.

I recommend gaining at least a couple ranks of exploration rank before new CMDRs make the trip to Quince for planetary scan runs, because my friend tried when brand new and didn't have the exploration rank req for missions. Luckily I took him to the CZ and made him a bunch of cash so he could get a scanner and then it was pretty fast for those first ranks.

Did the rank gating returned? I didn't notice, the game would tell you that mission is above your current rank, but would allow you to take it anyway.

Your rank doesn't influence the payout. It does influence which missions get generated though, which indirectly also influences payout...

Hi there,

Your personal rank has no effect on the payments, yes. It is the rank of the mission itself which has an effect.

Whilst it is true that you can accept missions of any rank, your personal rank influences the rank of the missions offered.

So having a high rank generates high ranked missions and vice versa.

Thanks,
Dom

Woah, that's what happens when you come back after a long break. I hadn't noticed that you could in fact accept them anyway. That's funny....

Thank you for the correction and clarification Babel
