joining a superpower

So im looking to joining a superpower. i have done a little reading on it bu it tends to be a wall of text. mostly at this point i wonder is there any downside to joining one. like will it off another will i lose the ability to land some where. stuff like that and can i quit one if i join and it just isnt doing it for me.

thank you for the help and may your cargo hold like your bed never be empty

There is no downside anymore. The only downside to pledging is that other players who are involved in an enemy power may try to kill you. That's a bonus in my opinion. You won't ever lose the ability to land anywhere, and you can quit at any time.

Here's a well presented guide- https://docs.google.com/presentatio...art=false&loop=false&delayms=30000#slide=id.p

You don't actually join, you support by doing missions, trading with allied stations etc.. in return the better ones give you ranks which in turn unlock better ships, the better ones have cool looking ships whilst the others have flying bricks of different sizes.

If by superpower you mean Alliance/Feds/Glorious Empire, then you don't join you just do stuff and, as you can see from my ranks below, no down side.

If you meant power play faction, then not really a downside there. Although after the massive nerfs to all the rewards, no real benefit either.

Thank you for the information. I too see being attacked a good thing my python is pretty mean. I actualy tend to keep 10 tons of ether gold or palladium because it keeps the pirates attacking

There are still the special weapons/shields.

My kind of bounty hunter. Why chase them around, when they will seek YOU out. :)

Do you have to join to get them i dont care much for the wepons but yeah still good info

The special weapons come from PowerPlay, and you do need to pledge to the power to get the weapon. Normally, you'll be able to buy the weapons once you have been pledged for four weeks and have achieved the required rating within the power (usually 3, I believe).

I joined Aisling Duval a couple of weeks ago to earn prismatic shields. Actually, we've just ticked over to week 3, so I am hoping that next Thursday will be the day I upgrade to prismatic. :)

as for my bounty hunting it does seem to work well i do so love when they tell me to drop my cargo. for the shield i might have to look into that i do always enjoy having better shields

No and Yes.

For the most part, you can still go where ever you like, do whatever you like. The only time this is a concern is when you have vouchers for opposition on you. If you have these, don't try to land at stations or installations of Hostile powers. Otherwise, you're free to come and go as you wish.
