Engineers Max jump range for a Asp?

I'm cautiously starting to dabble in Engineer Upgrades, what's the max jump range a rank 5 roll can give?
Should I stay with this?thanks and o7

Edit:Image won't load, it's 46.52(50.17) LY

A lot.

Depends on your weight.

Should be able to achieve 50LY if you don't carry weapons, heavy modules, etc.

Mine is in the 42 range with a not-so-good roll and a lot of crap carried (utility modules, passenger cabins, A-grade internals, etc).

Edit : 46LY is already pretty good. On a low-weight build you should be able to get even better jump range. But with stuff carried, I dunno if you'll get much better than that.

Basically top roll (not counting secondary bonuses) it +50% base range. So a 35LY base range (which is about the better you'll get) should go up to 52.5LY.

Again not counting bouses which could increase jump range quite further (best one is "max fuel usage increase").

Yeah, for the moment being I'm just staying with this, I don't have that many materials and I still have a Cutter and Python to upgrade.
I'm reading a few threads and it gets kinda crazy with this NRG stuff, almost like a gambling addiction :)

With 4-5 rolls you usually get one that's higher than 50%. If you engineer all the ships modules that's more than 50 years, if with an exploring/lightweight loadout

My Asp does around 50ky but ppl on the distant world's trip had 55+... That must have taken a mega FSD roll and stripped to the bone though.

I got to around 43 myself. Managed to shed some weight with light-weight weapons and the low power shields, which also weigh less. Though that was without having access to G5 lightweight. But yeah, an A rated Asp needs some serious weight loss for 46+ I think :D

If you're just starting to dabble with the Engineers, look into the following:

  • Heavy duty mod your lightweight alloy hull. The bad news is that it makes your hull armor up to 40% heavier; The good news is that an extra 40% of 0 tonnes is still 0 tonnes.
  • 3A G5 overcharged power plant mod. You should be able to get 16MW from a 3A power plant and still keep heat efficiency below 0.5. a 3A plant saves you 7.5T
  • 5D thrusters to save 12T and Clean Drive G3 should still get you more performance and much lower power draw than a set of stock 5A thrusters.
  • 4D life support is only 4T so you won't get much from engineering it and you have to unlock several other engineers before this is even available.
  • 3A charge-enhanced power distributor - as long as you have enough to boost, you're good. Easily outpaces a stock 4A distributor under sustained conditions but 5T lighter.

With that setup and a decent roll on your FSD, you should be getting 50-52LY jumps with a full tank, unarmed and unshielded. Once you add in about 15T for a shield, utility slots and some lightweight weapons, you're going to be very lucky indeed with your FSD roll to hit over 48LY.

LOL dude has obviously hacked my coriolis :D

These aren't epic rolls on the engineering, I have some capacity to improve most of them if I ever decide to spam rolls but this was my exploration Asp last time I saved it with the engineering rolls, literally every piece of gear and mod is as in the above list.

Reminds me actually, I must do lightweight sensors. OK, you're going to lose range there if you stick a decent shield and some weapons on it but that's an idea the kind of base you can start from.

why not consider a Diamondback Explorer?

OP, you exploring ? If yes , my exploration DBX (with exploration setup) is 58LY ,my exploration Asp X is 51 LY and a few times more expensive.
For fast exploration(getting to an area or target quickly, like colonia) then take an Asp(or Conda) as it's mega fuel scoop is superb compared to the DBX slow scoop.
If you are exploring leisurely then take the DBX.

Well, I just got back from a trip to the Neutron Star Fields so I'll probaly stay in the bubble for a while.I'm still Pioneer at 20% so in the future I'll have to get out there and get my Elite rank. This time in heavily engineered ship!I never considered a DBX exactly because I'd miss my monster fuel scoop, love that thing, worth every penny!

AFAIK lightweight sensors don't lose range, only scan angle.

Sorry, that was two separate points.

1. I must remember to do lightweight sensors.

2. With regard to OP, who seems to be building a general purpose Asp not an explorer, if he starts adding things like guns and a decent shield onto the basic ship I linked, he will lose FSD range due to added mass.

Totally my fault, it was possibly the worst constucted paragraph I have ever written. :D

Edit: And yeah, as far as I recall you do only lose scan angle with the lighweight sensor mod.

Asp Explorer gets 48.77LY and that's with an non-engineered 5A power plant and 2 medium lasers on her nose for protection. No mods on sensors, life support, chaff, or heat sinks yet. Should be able to squeeze 50+LY after those mods and equipping a smaller power plant.

I have a 54.52 Ly ASP.
It has a 52.9% FSD.
It is pimped to the max lightweight but still is very capable for exploration including SRV, DSS and ADS plus AFMU.

I sold my AspX because my DBX jumps much further as a taxi/explorer but the AspX would be a better ship than the DBX to do things in once you get somewhere.

The point of the AspX was to be a long-range multirole but it was superseded by an Anaconda for me since I could still get close to 50LY on a jump but with a fighter hangar, far more shield and firepower, a double capacity fuel tank for heading out to the rim and mining capability.

I've never been to the rim, maybe some day....
