Description

Eol Prou Group are pleased to announce the completion of training for a new expedition to distant regions of the galaxy. It’s a private expedition, in which only 4 pilots from the organization will take part.

“We have prepared a route, which runs through the entire galaxy. It will make us able to visit every closed and other interesting to us regions. Organization considered the mapping and detailed survey of such regions to be an important task.”

The secondary tasks of the expedition will be an inspection of known nebulas, which are near the route, a search of previously undiscovered planetary nebulas, unusual systems and objects and possible activity within them.

It will be very hard to achieve these goals, and the expedition will take a few month in time. That’s why the leadership decided to send only a small number of its specialists, the ones who have large experience of distant expeditions and who are ready to do their utmost to fulfill their tasks.

Departure of the expedition is scheduled on Wednesday, August 2, 3303. The ships will head to the first checkpoint on the route - the Froadik region.

First achievement for Endless Stars Expedition.

Fungal Life Forms Have Been Discovered

The Endless Stars Expedition is bringing up the first results. During the survey of the stars around the next waypoint in Dryaea Flee GR-W E1-83 planetary nebula, there was found a system, which characteristics are suitable for the growth of fungal life.

"Our theory is to compare different parameters of stars, such as the potential habitable zone and types and components of stellar bodies. We are pleased to announce that the theory, developed at Eol Prou Group have been confirmed. The participants of Endless Stars Expedition have really found a new field for growth of a fungal life forms on non-atmospheric planets"

A detailed inspection revealed that the composition and types of fungi match to the organisms discovered in the past year in Colonia system. Taking into account the distance of a new field of 4000 light years from the first discovery, it can be assumed that the habitat of this life form may cover the entire galaxy.

The first communication session over the last ten days. All this time we were limited to sending only telemetry data. We hope that nobody was panicking, trying to establish communication with the expedition.

Today the crew of EPG Antipater have finally finished the survey of the outer part of permit-locked region - Froadik. LDE Perseus, EPG Nova and EPG Irida went on to the next target on the route, to Looking Glass nebula, a bit earlier, while the expedition’s flagship had left for a final data analysis.

The scanning of inner space of the region, to what extent the existing equipment allows us,haven’t revealed any serious anomalies. There are few black holes, neutron stars and and a lot of main-sequence stars inside the Froadik. But there is nothing that could indicate of something unusual, that could become a reason to block access to the region. The systems of the ship were just unable to perform a jump inside the “bubble” As in case of other locked systems, it appears to be some sort of a program-blocking in FSD-firmwares.

The regions surrounding Froadik have appeared to be very scarce in star systems, so in some places the route plotting became a bit hard. It didn’t allow to make a sufficiently smooth lines of motion, but the navigators have tried their best to minimize the deflections.

The systems themselves are not very diverse. We have found dozens of water, ammonia and earth-like worlds. Unfortunately, the Pilots Federation is still blocking the independent pilots from the access of means of landing atmospheric planets. Thus the participants of the expedition can only guess what is hidden on these undoubtedly habitable worlds.

Today expedition reunites and plans to move forward on the route to the edge of the galaxy. We will pass about 20 000 light years and will make our way closer to a potential microquasar Cygni X-3.

Thank you for this info. Maybe we'll meet somewhere on the way. :)
We have a few not so common tasks we want to accomplish in the way. In any case, there is a lot of interesting things that still has not been found.

We started our expedition.
The first waypoint was reached and we stopped in 2000ly from the Colonia.
Here is a beautiful planetary nebula (Mylaifaa HC-U e3-584), was first discovered by CMDR Aizria in october 3302.
We decided to stay here for a while and explore near systems. It's not like that here was something unusual, but we'll check it out.

When I went out near Cygni X-3, I think one of the jumps I had to do required a minimum of a 53 LY jump range (106 with jumponium). The last jump to Cygni X-3 will require you to fit a 10A FSD to a sidewinder.... :D

Endless Stars: Expedition Report

Two days ago, we have finally departed from Colonia onto a long-awaited expedition around the Galaxy. Tired of all this politics and colonial wars, pilots rushed to prepare their ships to a journey as soon as leadership gave it a go-ahead. Expedition has started pretty calm and without any issues. Though many feared that our ill-wishers on the part of pirates and terrorist-groups may try to stop us.

Fortunately it didn’t happened and after a few hours the ships of our small fleet have arrived at our first checkpoint to survey a planetary nebula. And another day later, the total distance traveled exceeded more than 4000 light years.

Of course we could move a lot faster. But it’s not what this expedition was planned for. Surveying of the systems, situated nearby the checkpoints are also included in the tasklist. It’s what pilots were busy with between flights. Unfortunately we are still pretty close to the bustling routes, so it’s doubtful that we will be able to something really worthwhile. But the data gathered from different planets and systems will definitely make a good income to our credit balance.

Our last stop for today - Candy Floss Nebula. We will probably stay here for a day. Ahead of us is the first closed region, Froadik and a few more nebulae before it.

The Candy Floss Nebula is a very cheerful place with those pink and blue colours - and it has a soft centre: DRYAEA FLEE RR-K C9-64 10 is an Earth-like World inside the nebula that I found when I first visited the region.
Fly safe!

I can understand why you set Cygni X-3 as a waypoint, but you won't reach it. The gap between the system itself and the nearest reachable system is simply too much for current FSD technology. Even with Jumponium or neutron boosting, you can't get there.

Maybe one day, but not in the immediate future.

We know that. But we want to approach that system as closely as possible.

Endless Stars: Expedition Report

After a week of our journey the ships of our fleet have finally arrived to the first locked region - Froadik. Despite all the sceptical mood before the start of this trip, the expedition is already beginning to justify the resources that were spent on it.

For this week our whole journey was almost 20 000 light years. For a few times we had to deviate from the main route to visit and survey some of the nearest nebulas, the last of which was Ploadaea KA-S C6-0 high above the Froadik. near it we had to spend an extra day in order to wait for the arrival of LDE Perseus, who made an emergency stop not far from a fungal life-from field discovered by us. Fortunately, the pilot was successful with solving his problem and catch up with us at Froadik.

Today our ships had gathered near the closed region for a regular briefing. And already moved to investigate the borders of the region. According to general estimates the expedition will spend a few more days here, before heading on to the borders of the Milky Way.

Endless Stars Expedition Report

We have finally got ourselves in close proximity to Cygni X-3. We can’t tell that the trip wasn’t that exciting. This part of the galaxy can’t offer much to see both for tourists and explorers. 20 000 light years between Froadik and the edge of the galaxy have only few small nebulas and myriads of system with very little number of interesting sights. You can’t even find here any planetary nebulae, that are very common near the center. The expedition team tried in vain to detect anything curious and interesting, but was unable to do it to the galactic edge itself. Maybe someone else will be more successful in it.

At the edge, only a few thousand light years from Cygni the expedition members stopped to refill their stock of jumponiums. The path to the edge is pretty dangerous and there is always a risk to get yourself stuck in a system without an ability to get out. Especially dangerous appeared to be the last 1000 light years. But we couldn’t call even them extreme - a ship with a jump-range of 45-50 ly can easily find a path through these systems to the void if it has enough FSD-injections.

At this moment the expedition has stopped in Straluia OI-B d13-0 system - one of the closest one’s to Cygni X-3. Probably the closest. It’s only 417 light years from here to this mysterious microquasar. But there is absolutely no possibility to overcome this darkling void. And the sight here is pretty frightening - a very bright light on the Milky Way from one side and an endless emptiness without any star from another.

Cygni X-3, or Cygnus X-3 - was discovered earlier in 1966 and is a double star system with a relativistic companion, probably a black hole. It is one of the most mysterious objects in our Universe. The source of visible radiation is placed very far and practically in the equatorial plane of the Galaxy and thus is hidden from the earth-observer with a thick layer of absorbing dust. In x-ray range Cygni Х-3 system is variable: its brightness changes with a period about 4.8 hours.

The star has attracted special interest at the expense of powerful bursts of radio emission, which contributed to a closer study of the object with many means of observation. Then it was established that the luminosity of the radio source during the flares can be compared with the luminosity of young supernovas and the star itself is placed far away on the ouskirts of our galaxy.

We will remain here for not very long. A decision to head on to the Cygni was taken only out of curiosity. Very soon our ships will take a reverse course to the Outer Arm and move aling it in the direction of a mysterious region of Formidine Rift. May the Randomius help us to not get stuck there forever!
