TAXI....

Just a lil thought but, as it stand, we currently do not have shipyard facilities in the pleiades area of space and, it's mighty annoying and frustrating having to fly 200 or so LY out just to swap out for another ship and so, I thought, why not have a player/NPC taxi service?

Scenario example:

Docked at Station A in ship A... I want to go to station B and grab a different ship however, i'm so incredibly lazy [or maybe recovering from an injury] or maybe [insert any number of reasons here] that i want to just grab a cab...and so.

Current ship remains at station A while player 'taxi's' to station B - For a price, of course. Upon arrival, player may choose whatever other ship may be there.

If a player wishes to return to station A, then, another taxi OR, a player may have their ship transported as normal from station A to current location.

This would have many benefits, including, keeping current cargo loads in one's stored ship. :)

Again, just my thoughts.

If players could transfer to different locations risk free then summon ships loaded with cargo then trading / missions could be completed completely risk free.

However, Frontier are not keen on ships being stored with cargo in them - so there's little likelihood, even if a player relocation taxi service were to be introduced, that they would be permitted to leave their ship with any cargo / limpets in it.

.... that's if Frontier decided to remove elements of travel in a game that revolves around travel.

Okay... intersting idea, but how about the taxi driver can only be other players and it essentially becomes a passenger mission. If I want to take you, I must have a cabin and accept your price..etc.. (you set the conditions just like the NPC passengers). This would mean you could be lazy, but also would have to wait and offer a reasonable enough amount for someone to want to take you.

.... then the "taxi" driver decides to take a detour to Jacques.... ;)

There are four shipyards in the Pleiades although I wouldn't recommend using Ceres Tarn as it's on a planet with 4.12 gravity.

That would be part of the risk.... and hilarious outcomes. Makes me want it even more now! Then you're stuck there with no ship either, or just whatever the shipyard might have that you can afford.... love this idea :)

.... or whatever could be summoned to the shipyard.
