My ship can fire torpedoes and lasers, carry tons of cargo, travel faster than light... Would an MP3 player be too much to ask?

At least here on Win7 x64, Elite Dangerous seems to require exclusive access to the sound device. Meaning I cant just play MP3's in the background via your favorite music player.

I have filed a bug report for this, still in mod que it appears.

I listen to music when exploring and watch movies when I'm mining. Win 7 64. I'd suggest there is an issue with your setup.

Same here on Win 10, maybe it's an issue with the particular sound hardware you are using in your PC, although it shouldn't really be an issue with modern hardware.

As a wise man once said: "your setup is borked. I suggest you fix whatever manner of borkism plagues yonder troublemaker before indignantly demanding the wrong thing be fixed".

I subscribe to Goole Play and use a Desktop App to play music, lots of short cuts for control which i have mapped to my ROCCAT Grid ... Works a dream. Think you may have Setup issues and agree with the above o7

I do think it would be quite fun to have a player embedded in the UI that plays music from a specific folder.
GTA San Andreas for PC had this, where you could choose the radio to play your music.
Of course in no way necessary but a nice thing to have when talking about immersion :)

agree....with a simple shortcut key and maybe a HUD display when changing songs. More immersion and ease of use

Seconded!

Also, can we get a "review camera" like all those spaceship games from the early 90's?

And "cruise control" to bring us to destination without worrying about flying past it?

Honestly, auto docking is several times more complicated than a "cruise control" routine would be - it just needs to throttle your speed back to avoid sling-shooting past planets... and up again when you slow down.

Just saying... ;-)

Untrue, simply mute the in-game music (in settings) fire up Media Player and have at it!

Another thing I just realized. Since I started streaming my gameplay. I had to use Borderless Fullscreen window. Now music plays in the background.

It's only when it is running as a full screen application that all other system sounds are blocked...
