Game Music Packs an entirely new concept for Voice Attack

.................. You mention a cut down pack with just the player functionality, that's something I've been thinking about recently, if there is sufficient appetite for a cut down pack like that, then if people let us know on here, on our forums, our twitter etc then that is certainly something we can look at.
..............

I would pay for that right now, no question.

Mind you I think I'm up for pack 1 anyway - just as soon as I can get my computer to properly hear my delightful Scottish lilt. ;)

P.S. Much as Obs Ant is OK and all that, personally I prefer my computer to speak "lady" - any chance of having a female voice option?

Hi Malc,

Usually we find it takes 3 (sometimes 4) training sessions to train the voice recognition, it can become very good at recognising accents, even my own northern accent :)

Lady voice option? It's certainly something to think about. Pity Majel Marrett is no longer with us :(

Thank you so much for your support FrogsFriend! Really hope you enjoy the music pack!

Listened to this on the demo vids and it sounds excellent. The Audio Blocks generation will be just the thing on those long cold space trips; no more YouTube hunting trying to find the right ambient sound.
Pretty impressed with the list of upcoming features too. Situational music? Can't wait to hear it.

Purchased a copy and VoiceAttack. Just need to get it all set up now :)

Found time to get this up and running tonight and what a wonderful thing it is, you've done an amazing job [woah]

I've been playing Elite for the last few hours with the Audio Blocks running, creating a beautifully seamless, shifting soundscape. At various times a simple delivery mission has become nervy and tense just because the music has taken on an edge, or I've become captivated by a stellar view and then realised that the sounds have shifted into a 'wondrous' orchestral section. It really shows how the background music and sounds can influence the feel of the game.

I've always enjoyed the game's original soundtrack but this alternative takes it to a whole other level.
Keep up the good work and roll on the next pack :)

Thank you so much for your very kind words! It's really something we tried hard to do, to capture the essence and beauty of exploration within Elite, whether it's the chilling beauty of nebula, a harsh environment or the passing of a planet in Supercruise. I really tried to capture those moments in the music and even before we get context mode implemented, lots of people have told us it is uncanny in how it fits their exploration trips. The challenge now of course is to do the same for the next pack with regards to missions, different systems- anarchy, democratic, take-off/landing etc!
Thanks again FrogsFriend. Enjoy the pack.

Hey, would this be compatible with ASTRA or other voice packs?

Yes, music packs are compatible with pretty much all voice packs (just very old ones might not be). This was an important consideration when designing the packs. We have plenty of users using Astra with the music pack, just be aware that some users have a 'multi crew' script running with ASTRA which I believe is an add-on of some sort (I haven't used it personally). Because the multi crew script has controls for VLC, it can interfere with the music pack operation, so you'd have to disable those commands. However it's worth pointing out that in our v1.2 update due in September even this won't be a problem as we're changing our music player to an in-house one, plus communication to the player will also be completely different.
Thanks.

Thanks for doing this! I'll check it out!

I posted an enhancement request a while ago requesting FDEV to implement some sort of a "Internet Radio or MP3 Track Control" right into the cockpit (or cockpit menus). After all, we all have radios in our cars, why wouldn't we have something similar in our space ships?

Lots of folks thought this was a good idea.

Anyway, they never did anything with the suggestion because... Well... They're FDEV!

I've been playing with this today and I have to say it is really great. I have it and HCS Eden working happily together in VA - Obsidian Ant sorts my music and Eden talks to me an handles the ship - ooh it is lovely. I just need to sort out the internet radio stations, I really needed to get rid of Radio 1 now I have to add my others.

Thanks Malc,

So glad you're enjoying your new music pack! Thanks so much for your support. Radio 1... yeah ;) There are plenty of presets you can add and it's easy to change pre-existing ones. Let us know what radio stations you add, might be one we haven't tried yet :)

So i bought and paid, ran the exe, followed instructions, and then when I choose the pack from profiles it says a few different things with errors. I'm looking to use this with Astra Full House btw

Hi Droid,
First of all, thanks for your support. There has been an issue identified affecting some people's systems relating to the recent installer update, we're sorting it at the moment. We placed a note over the weekend with the download instructions which you may have received upon purchase (depending on when you ordered). If you didn't receive the amended download instructions, rather than make a support forum out of this thread, could you contact our enquiries@gamemusicpacks.com support address. It's a simple fix which will take just a few seconds.
If you could provide the username you used when registering on our site also, that'd be great.
Thanks again,

I doubt that my choices will be of interest to many, not space-themed.

First thing was to edit the 1 to a 3 so that asking for radio 1 tunes instead to the lovely radio 3. [yesnod]

My personal presets are; two from home - Isles FM from Stornoway in the Western Isles and Cuillin FM from the Isle of Skye - plus three favourites, Chill, Linn Jazz  and Linn Classical. Chill has suffered from restricted playlists but Linn Jazz and Classical are real quality - Linn is a premium audio equipment manufacturer and produces master-copy quality recordings - they have 320K streams of both plus a general Linn Music stream with a mix of all their artists (http://www.linnrecords.com/ for an idea of those). I do wish I could afford a Linn system though. [money]

If anyone wants to see what they are like (or to use them) they are:

Isles FM http://www.hebrides.tv:8000/islesfm

Cuillin FM http://radio.canstream.co.uk:8023/live.mp3

Chill http://media-ice.musicradio.com/ChillMP3.m3u - (stick the stream url into VLC)

Linn Jazz http://89.16.185.174:8000/stream

Linn Classical http://89.16.185.174:8004/stream

I'll certainly have to listen through those and see if any would work nicely as a built in preset. Radio 3 instead of Radio 1, probably a good idea. Radio 1's not so good these days.
Thanks Malc!

Hi CMDR,

The music pack does both, that's the idea really. So you can switch from our dedicated music (with the mix switching variants) or the audio blocks which provide ever evolving and changing music that's different each time (dozens of hours of music there alone). You can also ask the pack to play the different mix variants randomly as well as different tracks, which brings alive 5x 11 tracks in itself. On top of that, we know people will want to switch over to internet radio and we know people will have their own playlists. Which is why already we support internet radio and as of 3-4 weeks time we'll have very advanced support for (lots of) your own playlists available as a free update. So, in essence, you get it all, voice controlled with Obsidian Ant. We think it's great and our users sing high praise too and the system gets ever more powerful with each update. ;)
Since it's essentially an entirely new concept & angle, it's often difficult to convey the whole idea without having long videos & reams of text.
Thanks for your comment.

Same.

I like the idea a lot; but I prefer a "play and forget" style. So really long playlists of several 1+ hour long tracks.
